Sega Saturn Vampire Hunter from Capcom (Japanese) Available 2/19 at $68 |

| An extremely popular adventure game from the Japanese PC-Engine and most recently on the Mega CD, Snatcher combines elements of role playing, strategy, and detective work in an exciting thriller which stretches along act, like a play. The graphics for the Playstation version have been much improved over the earlier versions and should be a strong seller in this slow season. One nice addition is a rendered intro which tells teh story that leads you into the game. The sequel to Snatcher, Policenauts was recently released on the Playstation, and before that, was available on the 3DO system. | The long awaited Vampire Hunter, also known as DarkStalkers Revenge make its appearance on a home system. The Playstation version of the first DarkStalkers was one of the more eagerly awaited titles last year but that version never materialized. The Saturn takes up the slack and delivers a near perfect arcade translation with beautiful graphics, great gameplay and the motley assemblage of characters that gave the game so much charm when it first came out in arcades. The basic premise of DarkStalkers is a 1 on 1 fighting game but with characters from B-movie horror flicks animated in gorgeous cartoon colors and sharply drawn graphics. Vampire Hunter will be one of our best sellers this quarter and should sell for all of the stores that have pre-booked this title already. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Neo Geo CD Real Bout Fatal Fury from SNK (Japanese) Available 2/19 at $62 |
Super Famicom Bahamut Lagoon from Square (Japanese) Available 2/19 at $116 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The masters at SNK come out with yet another fighting game and the Fatal Fury series has never looked or played better. Back when Capcom's Street Fighter II was the king of the arcades, the first Fatal Fury was a competent but second class challenger. With the latest incarnations of both titles, the lead positions have been reversed and Real Bout has the upper hand over Street Fighter Alpha. Whereas Capcom has stayed to a tried and true formula for fear of losing their core of gamers, SNK has tread into new territory with a '3-dimensional' spacing where your fighter can jump into different planes instead of just fighting on one plane. The graphics and backgrounds of the FF series has also progressively gotten strong, as have the characters in the FF series. Real Bout will sell a lot of copies and might sell a few Neo-CD or Neo-CDZ systems to boot. | This is Square's next to last project on the Super Famicom and it has been a long and impressive road that Square has completed. Bahamut Lagoon features wonderful looking scenarios and nicely laid out user screens. The graphics look great as expected and the quest should be pretty involved. How can it not be? Square is headed for the Playstation for their first(second?) RPG after their 32-bit division crafted Arc the Lad. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
