Zettai Zetsumei Toshi Delayed to April 25
NEWS Week's Outlook

Irem's Zettai Zetsumei Toshi has been re-scheduled to April 25, which leaves us with merely two new imports expected this week. Along with ZZT on the 25th, a flock of other Playstation 2 imports are shipping at the end of this month including the Last Galerians [Ash regular ed. and AshxRion limited], Generation of Chaos Next, Ground Breaker, J-Phoenix Burst Tactics [regular and limited], Surveillance, and Winning Eleven 6. Until then, things are expected to be fairly quiet on the PS2 front and all other console fronts.
The following new imports are both expected to arrive on Wednesday or Thursday of this week:
-
° Dreamcast Gundam Federation vs Zeon [Capcom / Y6800]
°
Gameboy Advance Lunar Legend [Game Arts / Y5800]
-
Lunar Legend remakes the Saturn/Playstation versions of Lunar the Silver Star with updated graphics and storyline.

TOYS Final Fantasy X Monster Collection

US$20/ea

Produced by Kotobukiya Co and distributed in North America by Diamond Comics, NCS is now offering four new FFX monsters toys. As is the norm with products made for the USA but imported directly from Japan, Kotobukiya slaps a Japanese sticker on the side of each blister pack to show origin. Otherwise, the packaging is entirely in English.
Manufacturing quality for the new crop of FFX monsters fall somewhat short of the high standards set by the FFX Figures from last year. The Iron Giant figure saves the day as one exception to the fall from glory with excellent detail and well defined anatomy. The Anima figure (shown) follows next in terms of quality and detail. It's really not bad and sports a clean paint job. First impressions of the Ultima Weapon and Varuna monsters figures are pretty much summed up by, "Damn. Those are some ugly masses of plastic." However, upon closer inspection and practicing some due diligence, they're okay. We're used to very high quality models and figures from Kotobukiya and these two fell below those historical standards. We won't blame the low price point for the deficiencies since Diamond Comics plan to release all of the Japanese FFX Figure Collection toys in the USA at roughly half the price of the originals. To summarize, Iron Giant and Anima = good. Ultima Weapon and Varuna = disappointing. But, that's just one opinion.
