PS1: Dragon Quest Monsters 1 + 2    JAPAN  US$60  BUY
A little over a year after the original GBC Dragon Quest Monsters games, Enix remakes both episodes and packs them into one Playstation CD. In DQM2, choose the role of Luka or Iru and embark for the island of Marta to find your destiny in monster farming. In addition to monster husbandry, the plot revolves around finding magical keys and traveling to different worlds in order to locate special items. All this to save the island from sinking beneath the surrounding seas. Fresh particulars in the Playstation versions include new monsters to collect, new worlds to explore, and remarkably enhanced graphics which greatly boost the visual impact of the two games. Battle screens shine with fine detail and special effects.

PS2: Disney Golf    JAPAN  US$49  BUY
The Disney corporation's most recognizable mascot has to be Mickey Mouse. That cheerful rodent and his passel of pals have thrilled children the world over with their cartoon antics and Disney's merchandising. Join Minnie, Morty (one of Mickey's nephews), Donald, and Goofy as they hit the links and swing some iron. Four hidden characters may be unlocked as you reach goals and hit marks. Mickey Mouse serves as commentator and caddy during the game to help you improve your swing, teach technique, and provide encouragement. Up to four players may engage in a tourney and play on six courses which range from the usual perfectly manicured greens of a professional golf course to a dreamy tropical island. A game named Disney Golf wouldn't be right if there wasn't some Disney magic in the air. Hit a ball into special areas on a course and you'll win special items which help you "juice" the ball. With newfound mojo, you'll make magic moments such as a Hole in One, and other tricks to impress Mickey. A Challenge mode pits a marquee character of your choosing against other Disney elite where each successful round of golf levels up your power and other playing stats.

PS2: Konohana 2    JAPAN  US$39  BUY
The unlikely partnership and adventures of Meguru Momoi, Miako Tachibana and their newspaper club continue in a second outing as another school murder requires their sleuthing skills. In the first Konohana game on Dreamcast and Playstation, Meguru transferred to Konohana Private School and Miako blackmailed Meguru into helping her investigate a murder. Unfortunately for Meguru, he caught an eyeful as Miako was changing her clothes and she uses that as her wildcard to keep him in line lest she accuse him of lechery or worse.
As the new story unfolds, it's night and a mysterious fire breaks out inside a locked room at Konohana Private School, killing a young student. Near the body, a metallic plate with a strange message is found. With Miako on the case and Meguru backing her up, the two students strike out to crack the mystery. Similar to the original Konohana, the bulk of the game consists of interaction with teachers and fellow students. Conversations eventually unearth clues and leads to follow. At key intervals, important decisions must be made to advance the story, leading to different story forks and conclusions.

PS2: Otostaz    JAPAN  US$43  BUY
Paperhood Saw and Paperhood Mont are two paper-thin characters who inhabit the world of Otostaz. As the game begins, Saw appears on screen above a matrix of brown squares. A never-ending stream of icons representing water, earth, and wood trail him in a virtual supply line. Saw's job is to lay down these icons in contiguous water-earth-tree combinations in order to create small houses on earth patches. Plop down a 5 x 5 grid of these combinations and you'll create a little neighborhood. Once you've laid down the foundation of your fledgling town, drop down additional building supplies to develop the houses into bigger buildings, all the way up to towers which resemble the Eiffel Tower. At one point, if you reach a certain level of development, the towers shine rays of light towards the heavens in an impressive visual show. Each level moves slowly from left to right, destroying columns of development on the left while new columns rise on the right. Your goal is to build structures and develop them fast enough so that the erstwhile town reaches full avenue strength by the time they fall off the map. Fast paced, combo-filled, and unique, Otostaz provides a welcome change to the staid puzzle genre.
