Gyakuten Saiban 2

GBA: Gyakuten Saiban 2  JPN  $43  ORDER
The order of the day is courtroom drama when one plugs Gyakuten Saiban 2 (Reversal Judgement 2) into the GBA. As a lawyer and freelance detective for your clients, you are hired by an accused murderer. A witness comes forth who has seen the murder scene, with the decedent pointing towards a scrawled Japanese character on the ground and your client near the body - looking rather guilty. With testimony, detective work, and cross examination, you'll endeavor to absolve your client of the crime and work on a series of interrelated cases.

Ico

PS2: Ico  JPN  $35  ORDER
Surrealism espouses a visual style where reality and fantasy seemingly meld together and co-exist on the same plane. André Breton, who wrote The Surrealist Manifesto, credited the unconscious mind as the source of our imagination and defined genius as the ability to tap the unconsciousness. One can infer that dreams, those figments of our sleeping mind, are the product of our waking world experiences melded with dream world sensibilities. This makes for irrational, fantastic episodes which may bewilder real world rationality. One only has to look at the Ico cover to extract the dream elements that are found within the game. From the elongated shadows to the odd ladder placement to the starkness of the surroundings, a Dali-esque ambience pervades.
One of the most fulfilling action-adventure games in recent memory, Ico treats the eyes and ears to a surreal, beautiful, and haunting experience.
At its heart, Ico is a game of puzzles linked together in a dream sequence where hard reality is tinged with slivers and whispers of the sleeping world.

Silent Scope 3

PS2: Silent Scope 3  JPN  $60  ORDER
When tales of terror dominate the headlines, its a simple task to throw critical thinking and objective thought out the window. You're just a soldier in a "war" and a grunt does his job without much rationalization. As an elite dead-eye sniper armed with a high-powered rifle, your job is to keep the scope on the targets and hit all the necessary kill shots. Of course, all this bloodshed is in the name of keeping the world safe from raucous rascals. Konami bundles Silent Scope EX and Silent Scope 3 on one CD and incites armchair snipers with fast-paced boat and helicopter chases, busy enemy targets and routine cinematic sequences. Missions include preventing a President's assassination and busting up the plans of terrorists attempting to hijack an airliner. Before going into the meat of the Story Mode, beginners may take a few practice shots in the Shooting Range where silhouette targets are taken out. Hidden stages and multiple endings add a sense of duty to play the game again after you've cleared all 7 levels. The back of the packaging touts the use of Victor's 3-D Phonic technology which allows for "sound image localization" where enemy footsteps are heard from the direction that they originate.

Wizardry Empire 2

PS2: Wizardry Empire 2  JPN  $55  ORDER
With a game design and interface which hearkens back to the original Wizardry on the Apple 2 computer, the latest in the enduring Wizardry franchise keeps true to it's roots. Retained are the white-framed menus and status boxes, the neatly arranged character vitals, and classic classes of fighters, mages, clerics, etc. Highlights in this new volume include a 400 member bestiary with 261 anatomy styles, deeper dungeons to spelunk, more items to discover and updated graphics for the towns and characters. Animations are also played out when you climb or descend the stairs and when you wheel around in a barely lit corridor. Dungeon traps also animate in real-time, showing their special effects and resultant damage on your party when triggered.
