World's Smallest Transformers AS2

TOY World's Smallest Transformers Series #2

Measuring a mere 1.5" to 2" tall, Takara's miniature transformable Transformers as designed by Yasuhiko Enari are a marvel of toy engineering with tiny pivots and joints which twist and turn to change a vehicle into a standing bot. Similar to the first series, the eight possible Transformers are packaged randomly in sealed boxes with no way to discern between them.

The six standard robots are:
Jazz, Megatron, Optimus Prime, Prowl, Red Alert, Thrust

The two rare Chase robots are:
Silver Streak and Ultra Magnus

NCS sells each single robot at US$5. A sealed case of 12 would be US$60.

The BT-04: Hound is also a 1:24 scale toy which features a Jeep Wrangler which is made of diecast metal and plastic parts. The design of the jeep is superb with clean lines and "workable" parts for the hood, doors and wheels.

FFX-2 Yuna Figure

TOY FFX-2 Yuna 1/6 Scale Soft Vinyl Figure

Kotobukiya continues to find inspiration in Final Fantasy X-2 and their muse of choice for a new soft vinyl figure is Yuna. Sized at 1/6 scale and measuring approximately 11" tall, the Yuna figure is beautifully painted with clean lines and a faint touch of makeup.  Staring closer, one notices the faithfulness to detail is great with Yuna's blue eye on the left complementing her green eye on the right. A different color for each eye to pay tribute to her parents...

Naoki Nishimura and Hiroshi Inagaki provided their sculpting skills for the figure and their savvy are evident with the detailing and careful styling throughout. Yuna hefts the Tiny Bee guns in a pose that most gunfighters would never be caught dead doing but she's a cowgirl. The symbols on the Tiny Bee guns are also recreated along with the buttons on her satchel and other small details on her clothing.

Tsukuda Hobby:
Kanna Kirishima 1/5 scale doll

SOTD Kanna Kirishima Doll from Tsukuda Hobby

We originally stocked the Sakura Taisen Kanna Kirishima doll from Tsukuda in the spring of 1998. That was roughly six years ago and in that time, we've sold a good amount of them to collectors and hobbyists but not enough it seems. After checking inventory, we still have 80 new dolls in our inventory.
We originally sold them for US$98 which was marked down to US$49 in 2002. We probably sold 20 units at that price but we've decided to mark them down to US$19 each, which does not include shipping. The sad thing about all this is that our original purchase price was US$86.30 back in '98. The quality of the doll, the material of the clothing and Kanna's facial features are top notch as the
big photos will testify.

Gamest Vol. 194
193 pages, VG condition

  MOTD Gamest Vol. 194 (1997)

SOLDOUT
Originally released on May 15, 1997, Gamest Vol. 194 plumbs the depths of Tekken III and Street Fighter II New Generation with hearty articles. Upon flipping the cover, the first 2-page ad peddles Taito's original version of Densha de Go! for the coin-op market.

A large feature on Tekken III spans 22 pages with detailed move rosters for characters in the game. There's roughly 50 moves per character and sample screenshots show off the various moves as they're being executed. Immediately following the Tekken III spread is a large feature on Street Fighter III New Generation thats 18 pages long with moves for characters and large amounts of screenshots. An advertisement for Sol Divide looks good with crisp screenshots and attractive artwork..

As the magazine moves onto monotone pages, a Virtua Fighter 3 article details strategy and gameplay tips with a good amount of screenshots. A Real Bout Special article follows with some good strategy and play tips. Next up, a number of sketches of girl game characters from a coin-op game called Brand New Stars which runs 7 pages. Later in the magazine, there's a preview of the game, which is a mahjong simulation. There's also a Densha de Go article that spans 7 pages with conductor tips and lots of snaps of tracks and driving strategy.

With the sophistication of the home console machines growing by leaps and bound and supplanting or equaling the coin-op arena in technical ability, Gamest checks out some home console games. Playstation coverage examines Runabout from Climax and Salamander from Konami which were both released in 1997.

An artwork section shows off the artistic talents of the magazine's  readers. Previews and reviews as the magazine wraps up include Sonic Wings Limited, Shienryu, and GTI Club Rally Cote D'Azur. A Street Fighter EX preview goes on for 10 pages with moves while a strategy guide for the original Do Donpachi lays out stage maps. There a short House of the Dead preview and vibrant screens of Sega's Scud Race, Alpine Racer 2 and Sega Ski Super G which are 2-3 pages each. Gamest caps the issue with a mini strategy guide on Data East's Magical Drop 3. Price: US$11 which includes Media Mail shipping.
