MOTD PC-Engine Fan Vol. 9 (1998)

SOLDOUT
PC-Engine Fan Vol. 9 was originally released in September 1996. The issues that we have in stock are in great condition inside with crisp new pages but the covers have little imperfections and other flaws that were conferred upon them through the years of storage. They're not as glossy as all of the other magazines we've been featuring in MOTD.

The first feature in the magazine is a preview of Last Imperial Prince which also interviews the designers of the game. Artwork and sketches of the main characters and villains in the game. Next up, a 6-page Blue Breaker preview which offers a lot of crisp screenshots of the game and profiles the main heroines. Graduation R preview with fuzze screenshots of the girls - this was a time before capture software became sophisticated, apparently because jaggies and aliasing is in full effect. Some sexy Can Can Bunny DX coverage and a strategy guide for Chip Chan Kick which teaches tyros the ways of the munchkin.

Hentai game coverage begins on page 40 and exposed boobs, underwear, bathing screenshots and other lurid material may be ogled over a span of 4 lascivious pages. On page 48, the "Fresh Voice" feature checks out  voice actress Hiroko Konishi who was a member of singing group Radish Roxs in 1998 before she left. Hiroko has been in a number of animation series including Dr. Slump as Akane and Sakimori Misao on Gatekeepers.

The CD included in the magazine features previews of Nirgends and Blue Breaker. There's also a section with voice actress action where the talent shows off their vocal yips, yaps and other stylings of the Japanese language. A reader's artwork article on page 68 exhibits art with more depth than some of the other stuff we've viewed. A programming section shows off some more coding tips for Develo Basic and a new program to type in. There's a FC-FX GA programming kit advertisement on page 6 with modules for the NEC PC-9800 and another for DOS/V computers. A Develo Basic advertisement on page 8 which is interesting to review. Price: $22.50 shipped. We also found a copy of the magazine that is missing the disk and we'll sell this one for US$12.50 shipped if anyone's interested in the magazine by itself in VG condition.
