  TOYS Dragon Quest Trading Figures - Shipping in May 2004

   Square Enix announced a set of figures based on the popular Dragon Quest V remake that was recently released on PS2. With sales of 1.5 million already accounted for, Square Enix show once again there's gold in anything remotely associated with Dragon Quest. Each figure measures 8cm (3.14") tall with 16 types randomly assorted in factory sealed boxes of 12 figures each. According to Square's vendor preorder sheet, 14 types of the figures are considered regular and 2 types are secret and rarer than the other 14. Preorders are expected to ship in late May 2004.

 
 

Alien Soap Dispenser

   When surrealist H.R. Giger designed the Alien creatures for the silver screen, it's safe to wager that he never envisioned their likenesses to be plastered on soap dispensers. Yet here they are, snarling and standing prone under a plastic spigot through which cleaning fluids are pumped out...instead of acid.

   The soap bottles measure 18cm (7.08")  tall with a plastic screw-top and hold approximately 12 fluid ounces of your favorite liquid soap. Please note that Sega Toys opened up preorders over the weekend but the product will ship in mid-late September 2004.

   July looks like a very busy month for PS2 imports. We've highlighted the games that we expect to draw the most interest in gray but there may be takers for the others as well, such as Assault Suits Valken Zero and the Ape Escape sports game...

   Virtua Fighter: Cyber Generation is an action-adventure game featuring Virtua Fighter characters and some new faces while Guilty Gear Isuka is an arcade port of an Atomiswave based coin-op. Taito is shipping Psikyo Collection Vol. 1 in late July which bundles together Strikers 1945 and Strikers 1945 Part II and the latest Taiko no Tatsujin is on the way. Decathlete Collection contains Decathlete, Winter Heat, and Virtua Athlete 2K.  Please note the new dates for Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner and Gacha Mecha Stadium which both now ship in July instead of June.

  NEWS Japanese Import Outlook

   Most imports are slated for Thursday but an early shipment may make it in on Wednesday. One of our suppliers listed Panzer Front Ausf. B as shipping this week but Enterbrain has delayed the game to an undetermined date in May. Shiren Monsters Netsal may also have been delayed but we'll reconfirm by tomorrow morning. Lead preorders for this week go to Crimson Tears and Generation of Chaos on the PS2 while Rockman Zero 3 and Mario Golf are on top for GBA preorders.

  MOTD Saturn Fan Vol. 13 (July 10, 1998)

   Different possible evolutionary forms pose on the cover of Saturn Fan Vol. 13 to prepare readers for the Seventh Cross article within. The issue starts off with a Data East article which looks at what the publisher has planned for the Dreamcast and follows with an "ESP Big 4 Preview" which checks out Lunar Eternal Blue, Slayers Royale 2, Radiant Silvergun and Code R. The RS coverage is limited to 2 pages and the news this time around is on the Game Config, Key Config, Ranking, and Sound Test in the game. More information is provided on the characters along with screenshots. The Lunar Eternal Blue coverage spans three pages with crisp shots of the exploration as well as the battle sequences in the game.

   A Sega Dynamic Preview article inspects Deep Fear with an introduction of the characters in the game and detailed background information on the storyline. A Wachenroder preview includes character profiles and detailed isometric maps of the dungeons in the game.

   As presaged by the cover, a detailed piece on Seventh Cross offers up a large number of screenshots and information on the evolutionary forms one may take - there's Hammer Lobstar and a variant called Desert Bone among others. An interview with the creators of the game caps the feature. Seventh Cross had great promise but the execution faltered. An 8-page Sengoku Turb immediately follows with character data, game background, and an interview with the designers.
