MOTD Dreamcast Magazine Vol. 25 (2000)

An Tomb Raider IV advert featuring Lara Croft as played by model Lara Weller (it may also be Nell McAndrew...they look alike) on hands and knees opens up DC Magazine Vol. 25, which originally shipped on July 28, 2000. Since 1996, six models have portrayed the bosomed video game adventurer as follows:

1996 - Nathalie Cook
1997 - Rhona Mitra
1998 - Nell McAndrew
1999 - Lara Weller
2000 - Lucy Clarkson
Present - Jill de Jong

Racing into the reviews section of the magazine on page 13, we read about how Mr. Driller and Street Fighter III 3rd Strike dominated the rankings with an average score of 8.66. The scores for the rest of the games seem to be generous in retrospect but those were the days. On page 20, the benefits of the Dreamcast VGA adapter are divulged along with technical comparisons between VGA and S-Video.

Notable coverage in the issue
p30-37  Tricolore Crise background information, location sketches, heroine profiles and a look at the battle system in the game.
p38-31  Vampire Chronicle news and a retrospective on all of the Vampire games released thus far. The different modes in the game are examined.
p46-49  Grandia II screenshots and character attacks.
p104-107  Jet Set Radio level data, maps, and character details
p112-115  Street Fighter III 3rd Strike fighter photos and short bio
p128-135  An interesting article on artificial intelligence, virtual pets and where the technology is headed.
p144-157  Arcade coverage - Slashout, Outtrigger and VOOT on Naomi and King of Fighters 2000 from SNK.

Leafing through the magazine, we're reminded of what a fine periodical DC Magazine was. Good articles, superb screenshots and well rounded coverage from Soft Bank. Price: $6.50 shipped with USPS Media Mail.
