   Thirteen years after the original Princess Maker debuted on the MSX with 16-color graphics, GeneX updates the growth-game classic with vibrant visuals and full voice acting for all of the characters in the game.

   When demonic armies rise up and attack the kingdom, more than a few children are rendered orphans. As the hero who beats back the forces of evil and saves the land, one more task is asked of you. Meet Maria, a war orphan who is young and impressionable. For a period of eight years, become a father and raise Maria to become one of thirty possible professions ranging from Queen to warrior to courtesan. Various tasks and menial jobs may be assigned to Maria to enhance her strength, intelligence, charisma, and many other attributes which affect the path of her growth. For example, if Maria helps with manuscripts, her intelligence rises but her strength withers due to all that learning. A stint as a lumberjack increases her strength but decreases her sex appeal and refinement. Every month, town folk will offer feedback on Maria's progress and comment on her strengths and weaknesses. Items in the game may be purchased and given to Maria to enhance her skills - a dress increases sex appeal but lowers stress while a variety of weapons give her a fighting chance during monster attacks.
 
 

Guilty Gear XX #Reload

  XBX Guilty Gear XX #Reload - NEW Import
   Released last May in Japanese arcades, Sammy ports "Guilty Gear XX Sharp Reload" to the Xbox nearly a year after the Playstation 2 debut. A new fighting character based on Ky Kiske named Robo Ky joins the cast of characters and everyone else enjoys new attacks that have been added to their repertoire of moves. Robo Ky looks like a pimped out Gear version of Ky and blasts beams from his eyes (like X-Man Cyclops) and shoots four-finned missiles at opponents. Gamers may enjoy Story mode, Mission Mode, Medal of Millionaire Mode and a Gallery mode filled with artwork. A training mode gives players a chance to hone and refine their attack and defense before plunging into the thick of battle. Practice overdrive attacks as well as instant kill moves.

Similar to the PS2 conversion of GGXX #Reload, the Xbox version is based on the version 2 build of the arcade game. Most coin-ops should also be updated from the somewhat glitchy version 1 build by now if you're into trying before buying. The Xbox version of Gear XX features Xbox Live connectivity for online bouts as well as voice chatting support for the Live headset. A new character is also exclusive (so far) to the Xbox version for 20 combatants and unlockable fighters. As a bonus for importers, all in-game text, menus, etc in the game are in English. A nifty slipcase also holds the game intact.

   A 2-page ad for the PC-FX version of Galaxy Fraulein Yuna kicks off PCE Fan, followed by a 2-pager for the PC-FXGA development board for Windows. An article on pages 17-19 covers a software package called GMaker which is used in conjunction with the PC-FXGA for homebrew games. A few samples of the possibilities of the PC-FXGA are shown to entice future programmers.
