GBA Kidou Senshi Gundam Seed - New Import
As the game begins, the player's installation is under attack and the powers that be (well, really just a woman commander) send the player on a search and destroy mission where the lock-on function is used to target an ebon-warrior. A radar on the right side of the screen keep track of incoming attackers relative to your position.

Fly around the landscape freely and hunt for the foe. Once the dark-colored mech comes into view, lock on to the enemy and a cinematic battle will ensue where an attack is shown followed by the amount of destruction upon the wounded enemy.

Each attack only lasts for one round and another lock-on attack must be initiated until the foe is destroyed. The first mech takes about three rounds to destroy. The player then returns to the base and the proper game starts with scads of interaction and base exploration. Different areas of the installation may be visited by highlighting an area. Various characters at different locations will initiate conversation and move the story along.

After a bit of exploration in the main areas of the base, a new attack rocks the base and a mission briefing instructs players on the goals of the new task ahead. Before the episode starts, the player may choose from three mechs which are capable of locking onto multiple enemy mechs at once to impart heavy missile damage to each. Locking on to multiples is tricky but practice makes perfect...
