Way back in 1958, American movie goers were treated to films such as "The Incredible Shrinking Man" and "The Attack of the 50 foot Woman." In the latter cinematic feature, heiress Nancy Archer is visited by an otherworldly giant in the middle of the desert. The gargantuan somehow alters Archer's genetic structure and the lass encounters big growth by sprouting like Jack's mighty beanstalk. Nancy's husband is a philanderer and schemes to take her inheritance by committing her into an insane asylum. When big Nancy catches hubby with a woman of ill repute, she kills them both and goes on a rampage to take revenge on society at large. Fast forward to 1993 and a remake of the film starring Darryl Hannah and a Baldwin brother terrorizes movie goers once again with a gal giant fighting off the US airforce single-handedly. With 2004 rolling, the Japanese get into the fun and take a pot shot at the theme of big gals by releasing The Daibijin - which translates to the Big Woman. The Large Lady. The Massive Maiden. The action begins in Okinawa where a large and lovely gravure model appears out of nowhere. Measuring a titanic 48 meters or 157 feet and comfortably wearing a blue 2-piece bikini, the large blonde threatens the populace and edifices of Okinawa. To counter the threat of the rampaging gal, players use helicopters, jets and tanks to keep her under control. Circle, swoop, shoot and dodge as the big 'un does her thing. When Daibijin powers up for a special attack, her eyes turn red and blazing beams of crimson death fire out to ripple destruction. Scary. The novelty value of Daibijin is unmistakable but the game plays okay and offers an interesting experience that no other publisher has tried.. or dared. Kudos. |
