Scrap Heap Scramble - Dead? Mobile 5.4" Monitor

We received this item DOA from Interact a year or so ago. The item is in new condition and the film is still over the screen but there's no picture. The backlight(?) may need replacement but we have little experience with LCD screens. When we connect a Gamecube to the monitor, we do hear the sound but see no picture. Package includes AC adapter, car adapter, and an AV plug converter for the monitor which is used to connect other devices to the monitor.
