Mix equal parts of science, sorcery, and mechs and one
comes up with a cauldron full of something similar to
Demon Bane. The game is a set in a contemporary
civilization but magic threads throughout the world
along with technological wonders such as huge robots
which fight for their respective masters. Based on our
quick test drive this morning, the cast of characters is
extensive and the storyline revolves around a secretive
faction who uses magic to unleash a destructive force
which ripples throughout a town and destroys a good
chunk of it. To combat this underground cabal, a
team is assembled which uses a powerful mech as their
ace in the hole. Although the mechs on both sides do
most of the fighting in the game, the cast of characters
also wield magic for offensive and defensive use.
The mech designs in Demon Bane draw inspiration from Gundam,
Mazinger Z and perhaps even the Armored Core mechs.
They're all overly complicated monstrosities with
gleaming eyes, bulging mechanical bodies and parts are
everywhere. The human cast in the game is more pleasing
to look at and is reminiscent of the Metal Wolf or
Psychic Force 2012 character designs.
Every copy of the first production of Demon Bane includes an OVA
which details the world of Demon Bane and gives viewers
some sense of the background story in the game and the
large cast of characters. The animation quality is very
well done with above par production values. There's also
imagery and themes in the OVA which appears to have been
inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's works.
Along with the regular edition of Demon Bane, we're also shipping a
limited edition today which includes the following bonus
items:
1) Design Book - Sketches and illustrations of
the characters, mechs, world
2) Nitro+
DVD - Movie clips and music samples from the game.
