PS2 PC Genjin

PS2 PC Genjin - New Import
Given a choice between evolution or a hard head, PC Genjin (aka Bonk and henceforth referred to as, in this text) chose the latter and gaming fans since 1989 have enjoyed his wacky exploits. Once exclusive to the PC-Engine and TurboGrafx consoles, Bonk gave his all through three platformers on the Engine, two conversions on the Super Famicom and his progeny were featured in a derivative shooter called PC Denjin (Punkic Cyborgs) or Air Zonk in the USA. It's been a few years since anyone has seen the caveman on any console but 2003 marks the beginning of a new era of PC Genjin domination.
Booting up the game, one is immediately struck by the beautifully rendered graphics. Whereas the original used simple drawings and scrawled artwork, PC Genjin looks lush and fully fleshed out with sumptuous colors and mottled environments brimming with detail. The play mechanics are similar to the original where Bonk dawdles across the screen and knocks anything in his path with the old noggin. A jump move lifts Bonk over oncoming creatures while continuously tapping the bonk button in mid-air spins Bonk like a hovering blob of flesh as he rotates with gravity defying prowess. Doing the head butt on plants lets loose chunks of meat which Bonk gobbles to raucous effect and transformation. Hearts to refuel Bonk's energy meter may be picked up along with the occasional fruit for bonus points.

PS2 Takahashi Meijin...

PS2 Takahashi Meijin Adventure Island - New Import
Master Takahashi (Master Higgins in America), the cherubic adventurer of vintage video gaming fame returns to the fold once again with a side scrolling platform remake. Jump, skate and throw objects such as spears and boomerangs at oncoming foes to derail their deadly intentions. Guide the Master through 29 levels and battle end-level bosses in order to save gal pal Tina from a wizened witch doctor. Beautifully rendered graphics, detailed creatures, and vibrant new music add a lot of shine to an ancient classic.

New features in the PS2 upgrade of Adventure Island include a welcome save feature where one may start the game at any level that has already been completed. A challenge mode also tests the mettle of gamers by giving only one life and metering one's progress and time through the levels. A Marathon Mode is also available where one attempts to finish the entire game with a single life. Only true masters need apply for that one...

Similar to the bonus section in PC Genjin, adept players can unlock special features in the game such as old commercials from Japan and the USA, the original music from the Famicom version of Adventure Island, and other bonuses.

  ETC General Updates
The regular and limited editions of Beatmania IIDX 8th Style and the limited edition of Pop 'n Music 10 are expected tomorrow. Saturday. If you have ordered with overnight service, we will ship on Saturday with USPS Express Mail so that you receive the game(s) on Sunday or Monday. We'll also send out an email notification today to inform customers of our shipping plans. Since next week will be bisected by the Thanksgiving holiday, we'll try to get everyone's orders out before the hiatus.
We're also trying to stock the Asian version of Dragon Quest VIII early, with an eye on Tuesday of next week. If our plans work out, we'll be able to ship the game on Tuesday for delivery before the Thanksgiving holiday if you opt for overnight service. Please note that the Japanese version of DQVIII is expected on November 29 since it will only be released on November 27 (Saturday) in Japan due to the law prohibiting the launch of any Dragon Quest games on weekdays. We'll also contact our customers next week once we have a better idea on when the Asian version of DQVIII is expected to give everyone a choice of shipping the Asian version as opposed to the Japanese edition. The Asian game should also be cheaper.
The USA version of Gran Turismo 4 have been delayed once again to February 2005. The Japanese version is now slated for Dec 28, 2004.
