PLEASE READ: The NEW SHOP is separate and distinct from the OLD SHOP. If you place an order on the OLD SHOP, you will not be able to use the NEW SHOP to check on your order and vice versa. Unfortunately, we were not able to resolve the two shop databases in order to transfer customer histories and accounts. Both shops are fully operational and capable of taking orders.

PS2 Dragon Quest VIII

Japan Edition shipping today

PS2 Dragon Quest VIII - New Import
All preorders for the Japanese version of DQVIII are shipping today after the Asian version from last Wednesday. New orders are welcome to ship this afternoon.

Please note that the Dragon Quest Slime controller is expected on Wednesday of this week. We will honor all preorder prices at US$45 for the controller but due to the decline of the dollar against the yen between the time that we started preorders and when the actual shipment was sent, we are raising the price for new orders to US$53.

Under threat of death from spoiler-phobic fans, we present a spoiler free rehash of our DQ8 write-up from many months ago.
The eighth edition of DQ features a cel-shaded visual style which is an evolutionary leap from the Super Famicom-ish stylings of Dragon Quest VII. The adventuring portion of the game features a Toriyama-designed lead hero who spans the world in fluid motion. An omnipresent camera hovers nearby to take in the action and interaction between town folk and party members. When its time for skirmishes, the scene changes to a 3-D close-quartered battlefield where attacks and magical spells are shown with elegant flourish and accompanied by gee-whiz special effects.

PS2 Tecmo Hit Parade

PS2 Tecmo Hit Parade - New Import
Tecmo (well, they're actually mostly Tehkan games) revisits the past with seven arcade perfect classics from their historical library such as Bomb Jack, Pinball Action, Pleiades, Senjyo, Solomon's Key, Star Force, and Tecmo Cup. Most of the classics may be familiar to retro gamers but here's a summary:

Bomb Jack - Gather bombs by flitting from platform to platform while avoiding wee beasties intent on your destruction.
Pinball Action
- Rudimentary pinball with a fiery-maned lady as center artwork. Spinners, bumpers, and the usual tricks provide foil to the ball.
Pleiads - Shooter which shamelessly borrows from Galaxian and Phoenix. Blends together static vertical shooter action with moving shooting.
Senjyo
- Commandeer a cannon and shoot at tanks and UFOs in the distance. Fairly difficult at first but easier as one gets the hang of the shooting, timing.
Solomon's Key -
Use magic to create/dissolve blocks in order to escape levels. A numbers of creatures try to stop your progress with deadly touch.
Star Force -
Fast moving vertical shooter with grating music and sound effects. Reminds us of something created with Shoot 'em Up Construction Kit.
Tecmo World Cup -
Overhead view soccer simulation. We remember playing something like this from the UK on the old Amiga computer. Very addictive.

XBX Kasumi Blue Bundle

  NEWS General Updates
All backorders for the Kasumi Xbox are shipping today. Depending on how re-confirmations for the bundle go today, we may have a couple left over for new orders but we'll update accordingly by tomorrow morning.
The Japanese release of the Nintendo DS is on schedule and we expect delivery of the NDS units, Super Mario 64, Daigassou! Band Bros, Zoo Keeper, and Sawaru! Made in Wario on Wednesday. Some of the other games appear to be delayed a day or two to Japanese distribution but the rest of the titles are expected on Thursday or Friday. As mentioned last week, Japanese supplies of the Nintendo DS hardware are readily available and we expect no shortages.
All preorders and new orders for PS2 Lupin the Third: Columbus no Isan wa Akenisomar, Zoids Struggle, and GBA Gameboy Wars Advance 1+2 are shipping today. We'll throw up synopses of all three games on Tuesday's website update due to time constraints this morning.
