GBA Gameboy Wars Advance 1+2

GBA Gameboy Wars Advance 1+2 - New Import
It was a travesty when Nintendo decided to release Advance Wars 2 in the USA but neglected to favor fans in Japan with the game. To make up for the transgression, Nintendo crams the first Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2 into a massive 16 megabyte (128 megabit) cartridge, paints some new artwork for the game select screens, and dishes it out for long suffering Japanese fans to eat up.

Gameplay is the same as it ever was with the game tutor Katherine giving pointers and game tips to new soldiers. Watch and learn as she teaches the benefits of a first strike, defensive positions inside cities or in elevated positions, merging damaged units, and general pointers on proper warfare. The usual opposing armies such as Yellow Comet, Blue Moon, and Green Earth provide the opposition. In Advance Wars 2, Ryo, Domino, and Max return to lead armies to victory and joust against memorable foes such as Cat, Kong, Snake, and Hawke. Modes include Free Battle, Trial Mode, Edit Mode (create your own maps and populate it with buildings, roads, military units, etc or adjust character colors) and a few other modes to test and experiment with.

PS2 Lupin the Third

PS2 Lupin III: Columbus no Isan wa Akenisomar - New Import
The subtitle of the second Lupin game on PS2 translates roughly to "The Inheritance of Columbus." Join Lupin crew in a new 3-D adventure with polished visuals which make the Lupin gang somewhat more rounded than they should be. These are sharp-edged characters and the cuddly look does them a disservice. Lupin looks particularly "off" in his PS2 incarnation. Game wise however, the control and action follow closely in the footsteps of the original PS2 Lupin III game subtitled Majutsu no Isan. Player control is over Lupin primarily but the other main heroes such as Jigen and Goemon may be played as well in certain episodes. <MORE>

PS2 Zoids Struggle

PS2 Zoids Struggle - New Import
Mechanical beasts shaped like recognizable animals called Zoids clash and battle in fast-paced 3-D fighting action. A little too fast perhaps. There is a learning curve here due to the speed of the game but once that's down pat, Zoids Struggle is fairly enjoyable as a 3-D fighter. Tomy touts the Armor Break system which has been borrowed from Sega's old Fighting Vipers where the armor of a Zoid breaks if blows are heaped upon a certain point. It's an interesting use of a protection system but ultimately moot in Story Mode because of how powerful some Zoids become.
As a Zoids combatant racks up wins, additional weapons may be bolted onto the beast. After a certain point, a Zoid simply becomes too powerful in the firepower department and one-on-one matches stop becoming reasonably balanced and turn into a shooting game where projectile attacks take precedence over close combat. Perhaps Tomy should have staggered out the weapon upgrades somewhat but as it is, superior firepower decides the outcome of every battle, every time. This isn't a problem in Versus matches between two players however and only affects the Story mode of the game which leads gamers through the events of the Zoids television series and puts players in key battles from the show's episodes.

Although no electrical step-down converter is required for using Japanese consoles in the USA, we recommend plugging all Japanese gaming hardware into a surge protector to guard against electrical spikes. We've received many reports of USA slim PS2 consoles becoming damaged by electrical aberrations but so far, no reports on the Japanese slim PS2 suffering similar problems. We'll include a notice with each Japanese console sale to advise customers to use a surge suppressor henceforth as a proactive measure.
Mario Kart DS is not a Japanese launch title. The ship date is currently set for January 5, 2005. We're still checking on the ship date for Kirby DS.
