GBA Lord of the Rings: The Third Age
Known as Lord of the Rings: Uchitsu Kuni Daisanki in Japan, the fellowship of Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas, Boromir, and others participate in a tactical strategy game where heroes and soldiers are moved on a battlefield and sent into attack mode against gangs of marauding orcs. After learning simple play mechanics in the two tutorials featuring Isildur that precede the game proper, gamers are sent on missions such as helping Aragorn reach a bridge, defending a town against a team of Nazgul using only Aragorn and simple townfolk, and other short but involved missions. The Nazgul mission is evenly matched despite the wraiths ability to able to destroy a farmer with a single blow but there's strength in numbers from the country folk...
A battlefield is divided into three areas where a team leader may be positioned to give troops morale. For example, in the bridge mission, players may position Aragorn in the center of the battlefield, Boromir to the right flank, and Legolas on the left flank to battle the orcish hordes. When a blow is meted out, the scene shifts to a side view battle screen where the attacker throws out a blow and the attacked suffers it in gruesome fashion.
