 NDS Color Variants on the Way - Shipping March 24/April 21
   The familiar Nintendo strategy of releasing console/handheld color variants returns this spring with the launch of no less than four new colors for the Nintendo DS. Shipping on March 24, consumers may opt for a graphite-black NDS or a  pure-white  model. A month later, candy pink and turquoise are up for grabs. In order to change the candy pink model to a "Hello Kitty" Nintendo DS, simply attach a small Kitty sticker to the case and there you go. Similar to the standard platinum Nintendo DS, each package includes a stylus, a carrying strap, and a 120V USA/JPN AC adapter.
   Preorders are welcome today at US$175 per variant.

▪ Manufacturer Iwakura has announced two collections of candy toys based on the ever-lovin' Gamera and Godzilla franchises. The Gamera Mini Encyclopedia features 15 super-deformed beasts from the Gamera movies. Our favorite mindless beast, Guiron, is not present in the promotional flyer but we're assuming that it's just not pictured as only 14 beasts are shown. Glancing over the roster of figures, we do spy one of the Terrans who drugged Akio and Tom with cakey donuts and watery milk in the unforgettable classic Gamera vs Guiron. There are also three versions of Gamera in different poses. All bare a mouthful of teeth and have sharp claws at the ready. Each figure measures 8cm tall and will be packaged with a small packet of candy. Preorders are welcome today to ship in mid-late March 2005 at the price of US$3.50 each.

▪ Even though Godzilla celebrated its 50th Anniversary on November 3, 2004, that's not stopping Iwakura from peddling the Godzilla 50th Anniversary Encyclopedia DX Candy Toy which collects 10 monstrous beasts in randomly packaged cardboard containers with a smidgen of candy inside. We easily recognize Mecha-Godzilla, the serpentine Manda, and what appears to be Oodako the Octopus and the larval form of Battra but the ape-man brandishing torches escapes us... Each figure measures 8cm tall and preorders will ship in mid-late May 2005.
▪ Kotobukiya has started preorders for a Shin Megami Tensei One Coin figure collection which features 6 regular demons and 1 special demon (not shown in the photo) in randomly packaged cardboard boxes. Perennial favorite, Jack Bros, comprise one figure while the other demons alone. Naturally. Each figure measures 8-10cm tall and preorders ship in April 2005.

▪ Preorders for welcome for Medicom's Star Wars Kubrick Series 4 figures which feature (from left to right): Darth Vader with light saber, Storm Trooper with blaster, Emperor Palpatine with cane, Luke Skywalker in Bespin fatigues with light saber, Han Solo in thermal duds for Planet Hoth, and Nien Numb with blaster. The figures are expected to ship in mid-late June 2005.

▪ Kotobukiya announced two To Heart PVC Figures which feature the green-haired Multi and the carrot-topped Serio from the popular video game turned animation. Introduced in episode 10 of the series, Multi and Serio are robots created by the Kurusugawa Electronics Corporation to gather data, learn, and interact. Each gal is sculpted at 1/8 scale and delivery is due in April 05.
