PS2 Gantz - New Import

Kei Kurono is headed home from school when he watches a hapless drunk fall onto the railroad tracks. When Kei's childhood friend Kato Masaku jumps onto the tracks to help, Kei reluctantly joins in. For their act of charity, both are killed by an oncoming train. Or are they?    Kei and Kato find themselves in a room with other supposed dead folk and a black spherical object. Soon, the boys are recruited into a war against aliens that only they can see.    Run around darkened town streets and cut, shoot, and blow up aliens who explode into splatters of green gore accompanied by death shrieks. A special effect that one will encounter from time to time is where a body explosion leaves splatter chunks on the camera lens which slowly fade away after a brutal killing. The action is viewed from behind the hero and the camera dutifully flows along with speed and efficiency. To immobilize foes, a Y-Gun may be used which shoots out a special rope which wraps around an alien and then anchors it down. Once tethered, the alien will remain immobilized for a few seconds which leaves it helpless against an attack. Normal attacks with weapons are the norm but cars and other objects may be picked up and hurled at enemies.    Weapons include X-Guns, X-Rifles for long range attacks and the Gantz Sword for slashing close. Mines may also be planted to destroy oncoming rushers and other items include an invisibility device and a trap which is like the Y-Gun except it is planted on the ground and activated once someone trods over it.
