An 18th
Cyber Formula Championship Begins...
Cyber formula racers in Asurada cars flow like Deer Park Spring
Water across concrete tracks while attractive light
sources bounce off their metal hulls. Battle for
rank in championship races on the Cyber Formula
racing circuit where elite drivers battle for rank
on super high-speed races. An updated booster system
is used in the game where rockets send the racers
careening forward because of the rush of speed. In
addition to standard boosters, afterburners are also
available which light up the bottom of the screen
with jets of blue exhaust.
A Replay function sends the camera rolling all over the car as it
wheels through the the track and hitting R1 will
change the view to one's taste. The cars are very
responsive and the little fins on top of the vehicle
will wave to and fro quickly when maneuvering
through the track. During a race, communications
from the pit crews will appear on the sides of the
screen where they pop into view along with
commentary. A bit of strategy in present where pit stops may help or even hinder one's
progress as the race nears completion.
The Story Mode in the game follows the events of the
4 OVA releases titled Double One, Zero, Saga, and Sin.
Play through various Grand Prix tourneys all the way up to the
18th Grand Prix where different challengers and
levels of difficulty await.
Cut scenes between races move the story
along and a selection of anime race queens decorate
the racetrack with their bikini tops and bottoms.
A total of 20 music tracks play throughout the races
for reflective jingles from the anime material.
Characters in the game include:
Hayato Kazami
Knight Shoemach
N. Shinjo
I. Gudelmian
F. Heinel
K.L. Randoll
among others...
On the screen:
Laps are tallied on the upper left corner of the
screen. Below it, the record time is kept along with
your current total time. On the upper right, your
position amongst contenders is tracked along with
stats for your best lap and last lap. On the lower
left, time remaining and mph is recorded while the
gear is viewable on the lower right. |
