PS2 Hissatsu Ura-Kagyou - New Import

Towards the end of the Edo era under the control of the Tokugawa Shogunate, the financial position of the government declined which led to onerous taxation of the population. Struggling farmers rioted and added to the burden of the governing body and the local daimyo. As the social hierarchy saw destabilization, a population of thugs rose up to exert their corrupt ways and power on the citizenry.

Late Edo era Japan was fraught with vandals, bandits, and other ruffians who took advantage of their fellow citizens. Random killings, thrill slaughters, and other mindless rampages are loosed. While other citizens are busy performing chores and the daily upkeep, the thugs are out swaggering and raising a ruckus. Enter Kojirou Tatekawi, a life saving physician by day but an avenging assassin at night. Seeing the senseless slaughter, Kojirou teams up with five fellow assassins who kill in various ways to keep the peace. The assassins are a varied lot which include a bruiser who chops targets with two handed hooks and a seemingly sweet gal who throws iron fans which slice and dice. There's also a guy who uses spinning tops as killing machines and ropes which vanquish trapped hooligans.
