GBA Screw Breaker JPN

GBA Screw Breaker - New Import
What was stolen must be recovered and a purple-haired gal drops herself in a mobile drilling machine to retrieve her mother's precious bauble. With a powerful spinning tip, the mighty drill machine tunnels through barriers, into secret areas, and other locations. The drill spins with a tap of the L or R trigger, with either button sending the drill rotating in one direction or the other. At the outset of the game, the drill spins for a short time before heat stops it cold but power-up gears may be obtained which extend <more>

PSP Gundam Battle Tactics JPN

PSP Gundam Battle Tactics - New Import
The One Year War flares up once again with Federation and Zeon at each other's collective throats in a new and original 3D action game from Bandai. Players choose a side at the outset and rush into battle against the opposition. Episodes are cut into missions where objectives are laid out at the outset and a player selects a hero and mech Mobile Suit to drive.

The game runs fast with well animated Gundam movement as clunky robots roam the landscape with convincing weight - each running step juts down like a heavy leg and each move has apparent gravity. A Search Radar is located on the lower left corner which tracks enemies on the field. Weapons are listed on the middle right of the screen and the thruster reserve is on the lower right. Players may jump jet around the screen for short distances to close in on a target or flee from trouble. Each mission has a time limit which counts down on the upper left corner. As missions are conquered, subsequent levels increase in difficulty. Performing well will also unlock new higher performance Gundam units which may help turn the tide against the enemy. Missions consist of standard attack runs, reconnaissance forays, playing the part of a guard, etc.

A multiplayer mode is built in where up to four players may engage in head to head action where it's every man for himself, 2-vs-2 team action, and even a 3-on-1 beat down.

PSP Princess Crown JPN

PSP Princess Crown + Bonus Booklet - New Import
Introduction

In front of a fireplace, a black cat roams around while a grandma sitting in a rocking chair decides to read a story to a young girl munchkin. Take control of the little girl, pick up the book on the floor and hand it over to 'gamma. Leave the scene alone and the cat will meow and lick its paw while pacing back and forth.
As the story begins, a mighty blue muscled demon is seen in a hall full of dead soldiers while tufts of flames flicker briskly. Three knights arrive to beat back the creature but are quickly bounced backwards to groans. A knight and a blue-cloaked wizard remain and the magic user calls upon lightning to strike the creature. No good. More soldiers arrive but are beaten back also. The Queen decked out in armor enters the fray and splits the creature, leaving it a mass of bones. 25 years later a new princess is crowned by the wizard to take over the reign of the kingdom. After the coronation, colored paper falls from the sky and Gradriel's assembled court is at attention.
Before the actual game starts, Gradriel will have a practice fight against one of her knights which is a good time to practice moves since the knight isn't particularly aggressive in his attacks.

PS2 Hissatsu Ura-Kagyou JPN

 PS2 Hissatsu Ura-Kagyou - New Import
Towards the end of the Edo era under the control of the Tokugawa Shogunate, the financial position of the government declined which led to onerous taxation of the population. Struggling farmers rioted and added to the burden of the governing body and the local daimyo. As the social hierarchy saw destabilization, a population of thugs rose up to exert their corrupt ways and power on the citizenry.

Late Edo era Japan was fraught with vandals, bandits, and other ruffians who took advantage of their fellow citizens. Random killings, thrill slaughters, and other mindless rampages are loosed. While other citizens are busy performing chores and the daily upkeep, the thugs are out swaggering and raising a ruckus. Enter Kojirou Tatekawi, a live saving physician by day but an avenging assassin at night. Seeing the senseless slaughter, Kojirou teams up with five fellow assassins who kill in various ways to keep the peace. The assassins are a varied lot which include a bruiser who chops targets with two handed hooks and a seemingly sweet gal who throws iron fans which slice and dice. There's also a guy who uses spinning tops as killing machines and ropes which vanquish trapped hooligans.

Control
Raiden may be maneuvered through the D-pad or the Dual Shock thumbstick. The D-pad would probably be the logical choice but after some practice with the thumbstick, we found it preferable for its floating ease of control. The SQUARE and CIRCLE buttons are used to shoot standard shots while the X button unleashes a radiating bomb which clears the screen of opposition. Holding either shot button will release a stream of fire.

Game

Press start on "Game Start" and the camera scopes out a floating mega fortress which releases a single fighter jet. The first level starts off with Raiden blazing through a forest setting - lazy enemies fly into view and float in from the side. There are faint whispers of clouds in the sky before the forest gives way to a city brimming with buildings and highways. The initial weapon is a 3-shot vulcan spread which reaches a tiny arc of the screen. The spread shot may eventually be powered up so that it covers the entire top portion of the screen and decimates anything that appears.

The landscape zooms and crawls alternately as one makes it through the level. There's a point where a massive explosion takes place on the right side of the screen as a building is destroyed. You didn't do the deed. It's a built-in blast which leaves a hulking crater with burning embers on the ground which just adds a bit of show to the game. A little bit before the big explosion, there is a little red car which flies across the elevated highway. You can shoot one shot and it'll wobble a bit before continuing it's trajectory. If you're agile enough to destroy it's heavily armored hide, you'll get a 10,000 point bonus. Fairies also flutter around from time to time with 10,000 point bonuses when caught.

Resistance in the first level is light and the cross-fire never gets too tricky, even when the bosses appear. The end level bosses are a pair of mobile cannons while fire off a patter of buckshot. When their first line of defenses are destroyed, they'll yawn upwards to release a rotating splatter of fire power. The shots look impressive but are ultimately easy to time and dodge because of their wide spacing. Proper twitching of the Raiden ship will get you out of there. Just before reaching the twin cannons, you'll be able to pick up a green directional laser which makes it doubly easy to destroy the two. Three weapons may be used in Raiden III: the aforementioned spread shot, a blue laser which is strong but only fires directly ahead, and a green laser which weaves around whenever the ship moves left and right.
The second level goes deeper into enemy territory and the <more>

PS2 Rhapsodia JPN

 PS2 Rhapsodia - New Import
In Rhapsodia, Konami takes their Genso Suikoden franchise from adventure game to strategy RPG where warriors battle in turn-based tactical action. The lead is a hero named Kyril which ventures out with a team to learn why sea creatures are attacking the Island Nations and to uncover the secrets of the Rune Cannons. There's a lot of familiar faces from Suikoden IV that appear in the game along with a number of new characters who join Kyril's party.
The tactical battles are viewed from an overhead isometric perspective with each fighter running to attack position in full motion and voicing groans and other achy sounds when hurt by an enemy. A lighted selector chooses which character to activate and move to various portions of the battlefield. Attacks are shown in fluid action with each sword swing rendered in exacting motion and magic blasts which animate beautifully with fireworks lighting up the local area. When attacking, the characters will also grunt and emote animal sounds to show their level of effort. Konami designed a Ground Elemental System where each piece of terrain is imbued with an elemental property - fire, water, earth, air, lightning, and darkness. If a player of the same elemental alignment - for example, fire on fire, lands on <more>
