Slip on the doctor duds, sanitize your hands, and
prepare for more virtual surgery to ease the
ailments of pained patients. Before operating, it's
possible to massage or poke an area to determine the
reason for the patient's discomfort. Poke a belly
and watch the facial expression to find the focus of
pain. If the patient grimaces like death was due at
any moment, it's fair notice that you've hit the
point of infection or illness.
The game is broken up into missions where the doctor and an
assistant assess a patient's condition and get to
work. Various tools of the trade are available
including a scalpel to slice open flesh, surgical
clamps to keep skin apart, surgical scissors,
forceps, and other shiny metallic objects. Once the
operation is done, it's time to sew up the wound
with the care and skill of a master seamstress. Most
of the surgical procedures require moving the stylus
in zig-zag fashion. This includes the sewing of the
wound where one scratches in zig-zag motion across
the length of the wound. Once done, the game will
show the wound being sewn up as it closes and little
stitches are seen on the skin. Done.
When cutting a patient open with a scalpel or using forceps to
manipulate organs, an aqua-colored "Miss" meter
keeps track of your performance on the right side
of the lower DS screen. If you're cutting or
performing on target, it won't drop. If you're
shaky and slashing in error or doing something at
the wrong
location, the "Miss" meter will drop precipitously to let you know
that you're risking the patient's life with your
butchery. The patient's heartbeat is measured on the
lower portion of the top NDS screen. Most surgical procedures are fairly simple
and one just has to follow the cues on screen. Use
the stylus to scratch away malignancies by
performing little strokes that criss-cross the
offensive point of disease. Successful performance
will be greeted by a sprightly chime. Perform poorly
and a sound like a guttural punch rings out. Similar
to real surgery, operations are a series of steps
which require proper maneuvering for success. Once a
mission is complete, scores on your handiwork will
be listed .
For virtual surgeons oppressed by the daily grind, there are two
mini-games that may be enjoyed, one of which is a
fishing simulation. There is no golf however. |
