NCS Game Synopsis
Gundam warriors take to the battlefield once again
with Striker / Wizard Packs in tow which enhance a
suit of armor such as the
Mobile Suit GAT-X105 Strike
with additional weaponry and other offensive
options such as increased mobility.
Gundam Seed: Rengou vs Z.A.F.T. is a coin-op conversion with
additional mechs such as the Force Impulse Gundam
and assorted Destiny Suits which must be unlocked.
There are no fancy game modes - only the original
Arcade Mode and a Versus Mode are available for
play. As in previous Gundam games, the action runs
hot with Gundam mech jump-jetting, slashing, and
firing ordnance in fast-paced missions. When an
enemy mech or a group of mechs ramble up close,
expert handlers will be able to perform rapid slash
and run 'n gun attacks for exciting and occasionally
frustrating battles.
New to the game is an enhanced dash move called a "Boost Dash"
which eats up the Boost Gauge but is extremely
useful for close range attacks and exits. Hit and
run. The Striker / Wizard Packs also add an
additional layer to the Gundam action. Battles take
place on the ground as well as in outer space for
two types of movement parameters for gamers to
adjust to. When in space, a Gundam may move in four
cardinal directions while land missions restrict a
mech to three directions - left, right, and up.
NCS Game Notes™
* The intro to the game shows an ZGMF-X10A
Gundam engaged in speedy flight through a galactic
background.
* Many Gundam are selectable at the outset of the
game including the following:
ZGMF-X10A with big blue wings behind it
ZGMF-X09A colored pink with a big body length shield
ZGMF-X13A with a massive spiky thing behind it
GAT-X105 Classic Gundam design with big boosters in
back (5 variants) GAT-X303 Reddish mech with big
shield and guncannon
GAT-X207 Horned mech with heavy artillery and a
yellow spiky weapon.
GAT-X103 Mech with a very long gun
GAT-X102 Blue mech with shield and cannon
Once a mech is selected, a pilot selected screen
appears with a large cast of available characters to
choose from.
* Before each mission, a short briefing describes
the objectives and lists the enemies to be
encountered.
* In the first mission, the Gundam seemingly wakes
up inside a hangar and jets into battle. Controls
are snappy with the L-Analog moving the mech in
brisk action. The "X" button activates the boosters
(check the booster gauge on the lower-right portion
of the screen) while the "TRIANGLE" button unleashes
a sword slash. Tap it continually for a combo
attack.
* After each mission, a Result Report ranks
performance (From A to F) and scores.
