PS2 Soul Calibur III - New Import

NCS Game Synopsis

ŠNCS: In the third Soul Calibur, Namco hones their 3D weapon fighting game some more and throws in a tactical strategy mode called "Chronicles of the Sword" where gamers go to war against opposing kingdoms.

NCS Game Notes
* The first animation in the game shows an improvised Galaxian cut before the "THX Certified" logo rises up.

* Namco crafted another well choreographed and cut intro for Soul Calibur 3 with scenes reminiscent from Lord of the Rings where armies are beaten back by a massive bruiser who waves men away with a swipe of his paw. Numerous other snippets feature the various fighters in the game in their own little sequences and special dramas such as Taki vs Voldo and the jester girl Tira vs Siegfried.

* The first layer of game modes are Single Player Modes/ VS Modes / Shop / Options. Single player modes include "Tales of Souls" where each character's unique story is enjoyed, "Chronicles of the Sword" which is set in a war-torn age where players use strategy to unite the continent under one gauntlet, "Soul Arena" where fighters battle in various arenas, and "Museum" to view illustrations and the history of the Soul Calibur series.

* In the Chronicles of the Sword game mode, players create a character and select a class from Barbarian, Monk, Thief, Dancer, Saint, and Ninja classes. The character is also customizable in appearance from the head to the hair to the limbs and torso for a unique look for characters. As the story goes, three empires named Grandall, Dalkia, Halteese are at war and the players steps into the thick of it. The objective is to take over enemy strongholds while fighting enemy units encountered on the battlefield. Orders are given to units who them perform as ordered. The game is played like any other tactical strategy game for a different kind of Soul Calibur flavor.

* At the outset of the SC3 game, 18 fighters are available but an additional 11 may be unlocked. Default characters are as follows: Zasalamel, Cassandra, Taki, Mitsurugi, Siegfried, Nightmare, Ivy, Astaroth, Voldo, Tira, Kilik, Xianghua, Maxi, Seong Mi-na, Yun-Seong, Talim, Raphael, and Setsuka. A storyline starts off every fighter's adventure in the "Tales of Souls" mode and continues throughout each battle as the story unfolds and new fighters are met and battled. In addition to Soul Calibur fighters, other types of fighters will be met such as a Thief, a Lizardman, and other skilled warriors.
