PLEASE READ: The NEW SHOP is separate and distinct from the OLD SHOP. If you place an order on the OLD SHOP, you will not be able to use the NEW SHOP to check on your order and vice versa. Unfortunately, we were not able to resolve the two shop databases in order to transfer customer histories and accounts. Both shops are fully operational and capable of taking orders.

DC Rajirugi JPN

 DC Rajirugi - Shipping February 16, 2005
©NCSX▪ Developer Milestone has opened up preorders for a Dreamcast release of Rajirugi / Radilgy / Radiruji at Y5800 (NCS $53) which ships on February 16, 2006. A special bundle which includes a Dreamcast console is also available but we will likely not stock this Sega Direct exclusive offer.

In the game, players control a little whimsical mecha which looks like a Twinbee at first glom but with different skill sets. In addition to a standard vulcan shot which can be swapped to lasers and bubble shots, the mecha carries a sword in its right hand which is swished in front of it like a windshield wiper to block enemy shots. A concentric barrier may also be activated to absorb shots and do damage to enemies within its range.

Controls
D-pad or Joystick for movement
A button: Shoot main weapon
B button: Swish sword-antenna
C button: Activate barrier

Foregoing the polygons and bitmaps of traditional shooters, Milestone takes a lighter touch with Rajirugi where the graphics consist of clean and crisp line art with simple colors and designs. Everything is drawn in the same style from the quaint ships to the big bosses to the puffy explosions. Even the shots from enemies are colorful blobs that spray throughout the screen.

PS2 Dance Dance Rev STR!KE JPN

PS2 Dance Dance Rev STRIKE JPN

 PS2 Dance Dance Revolution STR!KE - Shipping Feb 23, 2005
©NCSX▪ Japanese DDR mixes are more enjoyable than the play lists that are assembled for the American DDR market. In another bid to reinforce this truism, Konami has opened up preorders for Dance Dance Revolution Strike which features over 50 tracks culled from J-Pop artists, genre defying musicians, and their contemporaries across the pond(s). Songs featured in the game include:

Block Rockin' Beats / The Chemical Bros
Let's Dance / David Bowie
Injection of Love / Akira Yamaoka; sung in English
Passion of Love / NAOKI feat. Paula Terry
You gotta move it (feat. Julie Rugaard)
/ Yuzo Koshiro
You Sexy Thing / Hot Chocolate
Make A Difference / Lala Moore with CoCoRo*Co
Saturday Night Love / Sota feat. Brenda V
Genie In A Bottle / nc ft. NRG Factory
I will Survive / AKIRA feat. Daline
Oops!...I Did It Again / AKIRA feat. Susan Z

Familiar game modes return including Free Play, Advanced Mode, Lesson Mode, Training Mode, Diet Mode, and Edit Mode. In the Diet Mode, players may work out a daily regimen to burn calories and up to 10 players may store their routines on a single memory card. That means if the entire brood is watching their weight and working out, you'll be able to call up your user data and compare notes with mom, dad, sis, and Fluffy. Diet mode data such as icons, settings, and passwords may also be saved to memory card. A new Shop Mode allows the winning of special items. Konami touts entirely new graphics and characters in the PS2 exclusive game for a refreshing return to the dance floor. Preorders will ship on February 23, 2005.

Japan. Launch. Apathy.

NEWS Xbox 360 Japan - Estimated Arrival on Wed-Thurs

©NCSX▪ Speaking to a distribution rep on Saturday evening, we inquired as to how many Japanese Xbox 360s we'd be able to order in light of the shortages and quick sell-outs in the USA and Europe. Loosely translated, his reply was, "As many as you need up to 89 units," which we surmised was their remaining inventory after the launch earlier in the day. He wouldn't tell us how many units they received in total but judging by his perturbed and anxious tone, we're guessing 100.

Our usual courier does not export shipments on Saturday or Sunday out of Japan and we were planning for a Monday evening dispatch. There was urgency on our side since U.S. consumers are clamoring for units. There was also urgency in his voice to sell the consoles. For once, we didn't get gouged on a new console launch with inordinate price hikes. The quoted shipping rates per unit however were inordinate as usual.

There was moderate chatter on Japanese message boards over the weekend and scattered complaints of overheating and freeze issues. Not overwhelming but not enough people may have gotten a console over the weekend to post yet. We're not sure how we'll handle defective Xbox 360 consoles since they will cost about US$93 each to ship back to Japan for repair/exchange along with a turn-around time. To this end, we may delay the shipment until we hear more reports from our customers and vendors overseas. We'll make a decision tonight and update tomorrow. Since a few USA games are not region-protected as confirmed by many of our European customers last week, some US software will work fine on a Japanese X360.
