Big PSP in NYC |
 |
|
|

The PSP backing billboard is plain white but
the message is clear. |
|

Upon closer inspection, there didn't appear to
be any dead pixels. |

At night, the floodlights give the scene some
additional illumination. |

Observe the level of detail in the hardware.

Note that the power light is on... |

More gargantuan signage a few steps away. |

It's been there for a few months now, beckoning
pedestrians with its hypnotic spell and peddling all
things PSP. With the City deserted yesterday and Big PSP's
lifespan uncertain (check out the rust drippings on
the whiteboard), it was time to take some snapshots
of the massive PSP billboard that's situated at the
corner of East Houston and Mulberry Street in SOHO.
The craftsmanship of the PSP shell is remarkable given its size and
all of the buttons, marks, and design features are
intact, down to the screw on the bottom of the unit.
Everything also appears to be properly proportioned
and scaled. We don't have a bird's eye view of the
unit so we can't confirm that the USB port is on top
but we're betting it is. Big PSP has survived hot
and humid weather as well as snow, rain, and
below-freezing temperatures. It keeps on ticking as
a testament to quality engineering...
During the day, the screen is bright and viewable but at night,
it's like watching a drive-in movie... without the
drive-in or the movie... just rapid-fire PSP
propaganda.
