The body gradually
loses vim and vigor as age whittles away its
youthful potency. Similarly, age whittles away the
mind as one reaches the golden years. To prevent the
loss of brain power, Professor Kawashima of Tokyo
University advocates the use of simple brain
exercises that consist of reading, speaking,
arithmetic, piano key tapping, writing hiragana
(Chinese characters), memorization, and many
variations thereof. There's also a Dr. Mario game
and a janken game where the Japanese words for
rock-scissors-paper are shouted into the microphone.
A daily record may be kept to show your performance
by way of a chart and up to four individuals may
save their records and track their historical
performances. For group activity, up to 16 Nintendo
DS users may link up to 1 NDS+cart for drawing and
math challenges. |

* The
Nintendo DS is held like a book when using the
Nou wo Kitaeru Otona
no DS Training 2 software. The cues are shown
on the left (top) screen while the input is entered
on the right (bottom) Nintendo DS screen.
* In the Janken (Rock-Scissors-Paper) game, the
Japanese words you'll have to speak into the mic are
as follows:
Rock = Guu
Scissors = Choki
Paper = Paa
* Similar to Brain Trainer Portable on the PSP,
there's a "click on the largest number in the group"
exercise. A new variation features a field of moving
numbers and one has to tap on the largest number as
quickly as possible for a good score.
* An entertaining group exercise is the drawing
contest. An object is suggested by the software and
everyone connected draws their interpretation of the
object. Once done, the participants judge the
artwork and decide who's rendition is the best.
