Someone or something severed the undersea power cable to the island and all of the denizens of Yamijima disappeared on that night. Fast forward to the present day and the citizens of Yamijima have returned, changed and different...

   Siren fans who were terrorized by the original game will encounter the ghastly Shibito again but a new menace also roams the island - the Yamibito. While the Shibito flee from darkness, the Yamibito abhor the light. By using flashlights, torches, conventional weapons, and even motor vehicles, players beat back the preternatural forces while traipsing through the adventure. When an enemy is wielding a weapon, it's possible to grab the weapon from the lurker and use it for a beating. A first person view of the action may be toggled in addition to a behind-the-protagonist camera. The strength of the original Siren game was the uncomfortable feeling that the environs and music , and shadows that were presented to the player. «©NCSX» Konami's crop of Bemani games have inspired imitation and subsequent lawsuits. South Korean developer Amuseworld's contributions to Bemani clonage include EZ2DJ which mimics Beatmania and EZ2Dancer which apes both DDR and Para Para Paradise. Konami sued Amuseworld in 2001 for patent infringement but since EZ2DJ is already up to its sixth "Style," it's safe to say that the two parties have settled out of court.

   To take advantage of a ready-made Beatmania home audience, EZ2DJ finds new life as DJ Max Portable on the PSP. Konami won't be porting BMIIDX to the PSP anytime soon so kudos to Pentavision for providing a slick clone to hook Beatmania jockeys on the go. After viewing the game intro, scrolling through the menu, and playing a few games, DJ Max Portable pretty much matches recent Beatmania IIDX efforts in terms of visual gloss, sharp presentation, and pop sensibilities. None of the songs will be familiar to you unless you're savvy to the PC version of DJ Max but the genres are the same - techno, pop, rap, hard rock, r&b, slow jams, fusion, etc.

   To start a game, press the O button to proceed or the X button to return to the title screen. In the Rookie DJing mode which is aimed squarely at novice players, ten songs may be selected at the outset but 10 more songs are opened after completing 1 song - push the d-pad left and right to flip between the attractive disc covers.... »Full NCS Game Review»
 

 

 

TOYS One Piece POP Series 4 JPN
 TOYS One Piece Portrait of Pirates Series 4 - Belated Import
«©NCSX» Megahouse ships the fourth series of One Piece POP figures to captivate fans of the series. Nami gets an encore with a v2.0 figure where she's decked out in a purple bustier with the number 3 printed on the front and a lavender miniskirt. She's also rocking a pair of home-made orange "boots" with the boots in quotes because they're really just two pieces of plastic strapped together with twine. Smoker makes his debut in the POP series with an open shirt and trademark sneer. He's packaged with a staff which may be gripped by his left hand. Finally, the third figure in Series 4 is Berumeru, a purple haired gal who's dressed in purple pants and a pastel blue shirt. Her weapon of choice is a rifle which she slings over her left shoulder. The figures are sculpted to 1/8 scale and measure approximately 11" tall from head to toe. Please note that only Smoker and Berumeru have arrived today - Nami is due in the next few days.

«©NCSX» In Season 4 of Kiefer Sutherlands's 24 show, the 11:00AM to 12:00PM hour has him tracking a terrorist named Kalil Hasan. After a racial incident and a traffic stop, Kalil is perturbed by the easy manner in which he was allowed to vamoose by the police. Calling a cohort named Omar, Kalil voices his concerns and subsequently crushes his stolen vehicle into a truck to commit suicide. He's not going to be the guinea pig that gives up the whereabouts of the terrorist compound... Pacing the speed of the show, Jack assesses the situation and rushes off to deal with the Heller situation...

   Medicom apparently studied Kiefer's face intently because the RAH Jack Bauer figure features a very good likeness of the actor, complete with forehead wrinkles. Slight wrinkles under his left eye and bags under his eyes show the wear and tear of a hectic schedule. Although Jack is shown in a sinister James Bond pose with gun hefted next to his cheek, his limbs are articulated for posing purposes. The package also includes a cellphone which can be grasped in Jack's articulated hand along with two additional hands. RAH Jack Bauer measures 30cm or 11.81" tall.

 TOYS Real Action Heroes Darth Vader ROS - New Import
«©NCSX» Tomy releases a Revenge of the Sith variant of their Real Action Heroes Darth Vader figure which was released last year. Looking over the original RAH Darth Vader and the new ROS version that arrived today, the two appear to be identical. The difference has to be inside the helmet.
   Pluck the removable Darth Vader helmet off Anakin's head and the differences are apparent. The original RAH Darth figure featured an older, pudgier, and pastier Anakin whose burns have healed with slight scarring. The ROS variant depicts Anakin after the lava singe with ruined skin and  deep tissue scarring. Both feature the same dead eyes that glare out.
   Although the pictures don't show it, the back of young Anakin's head is also well crisped and brown. A lightsaber is also included for show along with five glove variations, vinyl boots, an imitation leather quilted body suit, and fabric cape with metal chain. The RAH figure is fully posable for threatening action stances and the glove variants may be used to recreate Darth's poses from the movie. Darth Vader measures 32cm or approximately 12.59" tall.

Nintendo DS Lite Color Variants Announced
   In addition to the Crystal White NDS Lite color that was opened for preorders a couple of weeks ago, Nintendo has announced that Ice Blue and Enamel Navy color variants are also shipping on March 2, 2006 when the NDS Lite is officially released in Japan.
   NCS will contact customers by email today with the new information. If you wish to keep your preorder for the Crystal White version, you do not have to reply to our email and your order will be automatically processed with the Crystal White NDS Lite. If you wish to change to the other two colors, please reply with your preference.  
PSP: Tales of Eternia / Breath of Fire III
   According to shipment tracking this morning, both games are on the truck and out for delivery today. They just haven't arrived yet. However, once we receive them, we'll update this page later today with product descriptions and back cover scans. Preorders will ship today, as long as our courier doesn't botch up delivery or accidentally drop off the goods to the Dunkin' Donuts down the street.
1:20PM EST Update: Even though we've received shipments from the UK supplier before, their crack staff mistyped our delivery address on the waybill. Can manual data transfer really be that difficult? In any case, the packages are in UPS limbo at the moment and being ferried throughout New York. If they do eventually get delivered today, preorders will ship this afternoon. If not, then it'll be a Monday dispatch. Update pending.
