«©NCSX» Sega presents "Neon Genesis Evangelion Matryoshka" sets which borrow the nesting doll concept from Russian culture. Two sets are available - a Rei set which features the blue-haired idol in six ever smaller dolls and a Asuka set which features a big redhead followed by supporting characters.

Top Row - From left to right:
   The Asuka set includes a large Asuka Langley figure which cracks open at around the belly area to accept a slightly smaller incarnation of Misato Katsuragi who in turn opens up to accept a rendition of Akagi Ritsuko.  

Bottom Row - From left to right:
   Ibuki Maya fits inside Akagi Ritsuko from the top row but swallows up Hokari Hikari who in turn completes the Matryoshka regress by accepting a small version of Asuka Langley. The circle is complete...

   The Rei Ayanami set features a "mother ship" figure as pictured on the upper left corner of the photo which opens up around her midriff to accept five smaller versions of Rei in various clothing styles, with each figure fitting inside one that's slightly larger until everyone is consumed within the largest figure. Therein lies the magic of Matryoshka.

«©NCSX» Forty years ago, an enormous bug-eyed turtle stunned audiences with its debut in the movie Daikaiju Gamera. The Daiei movie studio originally embarked on a movie about giant rats invading Tokyo and rodents were brought in for principal photography. However, Daiei's rat attack cinematic plans were scrapped when gangs of fleas from the rats infested the studio and production stopped. Rats and their fleas were all summarily discarded out and the script was tossed. The movie sets had been built and it would have been a waste to disassemble them. Daiei crew sat down and thought about what would be more terrifying than giant rats to the populace of Tokyo. Jackpot and eureka, the company's collective light bulbs lit up - the most logical monster to terrorize Tokyo would be a rubber turtle. A rubber turtle which had the wherewithal to stand on its hind legs and roar like Lion King. The rest, as they say, is history.

   Nine standard monsters are randomly packaged inside the Gamera SF Movie Selection cartons along with 1 secret beast. The figures measure 10cm and ship in candy toy boxes at US$6 each. Please enter a quantity of "10" in your shopping cart if you wish to order a factory sealed case.

 ETC Harry Potter Wizard Chess Set - New Import
«©NCSX» Kaiyodo ships a chess set based on the big chessboard from the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone book and movie. The set is a replica of the Isle of Lewis ivory chess pieces which are currently on display in the British Museum in London (67 pieces) and in the National Museum in Edinburgh, Scotland (11 pieces). The 78 chess pieces were discovered on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland's Outer Hebrides islands circa 1831 by a short roaming Scotsman.
   In the recreation from Kaiyodo, the chess pieces are sculpted to match the originals in height (5cm) with exacting details recreated on each piece. The assemblage of sculpted pieces are bundled together with an ornate framed board in classic style board game packaging. As a bonus, the British Museum book "The Lewis Chessmen" is included inside the package.
