NCS Summer 2006 Product Preview - Part I

ETC Pokemon Sandals JPN

ETC Pokemon Advance Generations Sandals - Shipping July 2006
«©NCSX» Had NCS been established on a beach in Hawaii (the big island, please), we might sell a few thousand Pokemon sandals to tourists in need of shoes to flap around in. That's right, flap - the sound of sweaty heels slapping against sandals. As the fates would have it however, NCS is situated in a concrete canyon where we might be able to sell three of the blue Pokemon sandals on a good day and maybe one yellow sandal if we hustled and threw in a glass of lemonade. Banpresto ships the punch-out styrofoam sandals in mid July just as the weather turns oppressive and heavy. Pricing is set at US$10.50 per blister packed pair.

ETC Pokemon Change Towel JPN

ETC Pokemon Change Towel - Shipping July 2006
«©NCSX» Not content to simply push beach sandals based on Pokemon, Banpresto has also started preorders for a "change towel" which drapes over a child and allows him or her to change from streetwear to beachwear in relative privacy while standing on the sand. In the photo, a youngster wearing yellow Pokemon beach sandals is shown to give parents an idea of the product's size and scale. Since it looks like a sheet, the Pokemon Change Towel may also serve a second purpose as a Halloween costume if the young 'un wants to dress up as the Ghost of Pokemon past. Preorders ship in mid July 2006 and three styles are available for sale.

ETC Keroro Gunsou Vinyl Pool JPN

ETC Keroro Gunsou Vinyl Pool - Shipping July 2006
«©NCSX» Scenario: The sun is blazing and the air conditioner broke loose last week. The creaky oscillating fan isn't really helping and worse of all, little Timmy has started crying, "It's @&&% hot, dad." There you are, holed up at home waiting for the UPS guy to deliver grandma's pink polka dot dress and sweltering. Can't hit the beach yet so the next best thing to pipe Timmy down? <Cue the trumpets> Keroro Gunsou Vinyl Pool. Break out the bicycle pump, inflate the pool, and slide it in the backyard. After catching your breath, fill the pool up with a few gallons from the garden hose and command Timmy to scoot right in. Preorders ship in July 2006.

ETC Bouken Ranger Water Gun JPN

TOYS Bouken Ranger Water Gun - Shipping July 2006
«©NCSX» Outside hunting or sport, no one carries guns in Japan. Even the fearsome Yakuza use melee weapons and the occasional +1 mace. Toy guns are common however and realistic looking pistols are sold freely in shops across the country. While members of polite society won't be seen carrying a toy gun to dinner, no one's going to look twice if kids run around Shibuya shooting at each other with water guns. Make that a Bouken Ranger Water Gun. Futuristic looking and fitted with a rubbery pistol grip, any summertime warrior looking to ramp his gear would do well to ditch the Super Soaker and take it to the next level. Preorders ship in July 2006.

TOY Tamagotchi Hand Puppet JPN

TOYS Tamagotchi Hand Puppet - Shipping July 2006
«©NCSX» It's unclear if beach theater exists but the Tamagotchi Hand Puppet to be released this summer opens up the possibilities. Made of plush material, three types of Tamagotchi puppets are on offer which accept a hand and contort according to the motions of a puppeteer's fingers. To get a Tamagotchi puppet show on the road, you can learn ventriloquism, put some virtual pet dialogue to paper, and rehearse a few hours before prime time. If you're good, you might earn cab fare from beachgoers and maybe a movie deal. If you bomb, the worst that you'll get is uncomfortable silence and a little sand in your eye. Preorders ship in July 2006

TOY Cinnamaroll Plush JPN

TOYS Cinnamaroll Plush - Shipping July 2006
«©NCSX» Cinnamaroll flaps its ears and flies through the heavens in search of delicious pastries to nosh. When we think of Cinnamaroll, we think of a little being that's roughly the size of a small cat. Banpresto's upcoming plush interpretation of the Sanrio character looms large - it's about half the size of a young child. Weighing in at nearly 1.1 lbs and standing 30cm or 11.81" tall, Cinnamaroll wears a blue neckerchief and carries an eternal smile. Since the carton that holds a factory case of these will be large enough to hold a Honda Civic, NCS will likely ship them by sea freight rather than express air.  Preorders ship in late July or early August at US$29 per unit.

TOY Touch & Twist JPN

TOYS Touch & Twist Game - Shipping July 2006
«©NCSX» Originally released by Milton Bradley in 1966, the game of Twister is fine when played by limber individuals with sinewy limbs. Things get a little awkward however when the less lithe clobber each other with errant southpaws and sweeping leg kicks. The Japanese version of Twister is dubbed Touch & Twist Game where a spinner is used to determine hand and foot placement of the participants. While two people may play the game with relative ease, three grapplers may possibly scramble onto the mat for bump and grind action of the unfortunate sort. The mat measures 166 cm or 65.35" square. Preorders are scheduled to ship in late July 2006.
