Game Synopsis
«©NCSX»
The courageous swashbuckling generals from Sangoku Musou take a break from mass murdering
warfare and settle down for some good old fashioned
mahjong. That's right, mahjong - the game of wizened
grandmothers, Asian gangsters, and harried salarymen.
After pressing START and entering your name, a character selection
screen appears where 16 men and 16 women warriors
may be selected for battle. There's a gal who wears
purple hot pants and a purple bra-like outfit and a
gyuy who looks like a girl with a papal-esque hat on
his head. We chose the hot pants gal and were given
the opportunity to play MJ against contingents from Wu, Wei,
or Shu.
The action is broken up into stages and before a match begins, the
various players will introduce themselves with full
speech and challenges as well as righteous
conviction that they'll win. After the trash
talking, each
character is allocated 25000 credits and a gong sounds
to start the action. Once the tiles are laid down,
huge cut scenes are shown on the screen where an
opponent taunts or jives his way through the game.
Use the D-pad to move which tiles to throw and press
down when an opponent throws a tile that you need. The
game runs fast but it would run faster if it weren't for the frequent
intermissions from the opponents. Jan Sangoku Musou
presents a big, brash, and bold twist to a table
game that's generally sedate... even when playing
against Asian gangsters.
