Bonus
Guilty Gear XX DVD - Partial allocation
NCS
received an allocation of a bonus Guilty Gear X
history DVD titled "Absolute Guilty Gear
Chronicle" which takes viewers through the
entire Guilty Gear game series from the Playstation
original that started it all to portable versions
such as Guilty Gear Petit on the Wonderswan to
today's new arrival. A Japanese narrator points out
the key features of each game and any new features
introduced in each game. It's a nifty retrospective
on a beloved fighting series. The Chronicle portion
of the DVD runs nearly 30 minutes and the other
portions of the DVD are:
» Furious Match - Check out fierce GGXX Slash
battles between two talented and very capable
fighters nicknamed DIE and kaqn. The first match
features newcomers A.B.A and Order-Sol in a raucous
3-duel battle where the upper hand is never evident
and the tide turns quickly. The player kaqn does
however demonstrate that Order-Sol is a powerful
BADASS amongst BADASSES. This portion of the DVD
runs for 36:21 minutes and features a number of
matches.
» PS2 Guilty Gear XX Slash footage that's
expertly edited to show cinemas, fighting sequences,
and white knuckle action. Four segments are featured
in this portion of the DVD - two 1-minute sequences
and two 3-minute versions.
» Website teaser page.
Unfortunately, we didn't receive enough bonus
DVDs to include with every order but if you placed
your preorder on our olde shop before April 6, we have enough to
include one with your order.
NCS Game Synopsis
«©NCSX»
When Guilty Gear X was released on the Dreamcast,
we're fairly certain that the skies opened up as
harpsichord music played and doves fluttered through
the air to pay homage. The years went by and the DC
fell by the wayside as the PS2 took over as the
platform of choice. When Guilty Gear X2 shipped on
the PS2, NCS is confident that an encore performance
of celestial tidings greeted its arrival. Fast
forward to the current day where the PS2 still in
control of the kingdom and Guilty Gear gets tweaked,
polished, and buffed to its latest and possibly
greatest realization.
Guilty Gear XX Slash was originally released for the Atomiswave
hardware in September of 2005 and garnered favorable
press and much love. A little over 6 months later,
PS2 owners get a crack at the game in the comfort of
their living rooms.
Fresh Blood
Two new fighters join the GGX2
fold: A.B.A and Order-Sol. To be clear, A.B.A is
only a new character within the canonical framework
of the Guilty Gear X series since she originally
debuted in the Guilty Gear Isuka game from 2004.
A.B.A is an artificial life form who isn't very
strong but
can use on-the-fly blood transfusions to change
modes from meek automaton to rampaging death dealer. A.B.A is limited to using three blood packs per
match and loses health when she's in Moroha or
double-edge mode. A.B.A carries a massive key named
Paracelsus which she swings for attacks. A.B.A. can
be seen leaning against it at the outset of every
match for support.
Holy Order-Sol is a new character
to the GGX fold who is a throwback version of Sol
Badguy when he was a member of the Sacred Order of
Holy Knights. Order-Sol wears billowing white robes
with red trim and carries a cutter that's nearly as
tall as he is. When he wins a match, he hurls his
sword onto the ground as if annoyed...
Characters featured in the game are:
Sol Badguy
Ky Kiske
May
Millia Rage
Eddie
Potemkin
Chipp Zanuff
Faust
Baiken
Jam Kuradoberi
Johnny
Axl Low
Anji Mito
Venom
Testament
Dizzy
Slayer
I-No
Zappa
Bridget
Robo-Ky
Order-Sol
A.B.A
New Techniques
The various fighters have been bolstered with new moves and
attacks. For example, Sol Badguy loses the dust loop
but has a new aerial attack called "Sidewinder"
which sends an opponent flying and bouncing off
walls. Sol can then rush up and press the attack on
the bounce. Chipp Zanuff has the ability teleport
directly behind an opponent for a surprise attack,
Jam can perform a versatile backflip attack, and Axl
has a new move known as "Kokuugeki" where he hovers
above the fray and throws his chains on a foe.
Game Modes
Game modes consist of Arcade, VS. 2P, VS. CPU, Training, Survival,
Mission, and M.O.M. (Medal of Millionaire). The
other menu selections are: Gallery, Sound, Option,
Quit. In the Training Mode, players may set
the disposition of the opposing fighter to turn him
into a standing patsy or a rampaging attacker who
presses the attack. The Gallery Mode contains
beautiful artwork of the Guilty Gear X characters as
illustrated by various artists.
In addition to EX forms of the 23 fighters, there's also Guilty
Gear XX #Reload expressions of the characters for
battle-hardened gamers unaccustomed to Arc's
tweaking.
NCS Game Notes will be updated once we're
able to tear addicted play testers away from the
monitor.
