Synopsis
«©NCSX»
When terrorists led by Mr. Big take over a skyscraper and
nab the President's daughter, two super cops are
called in to address the situation. Swooping in on a
helicopter and entering through a floor of the
building by way of fire escape, players have to make their way up to the
top for the final battle against a mighty boss
man. Miniature side game sequences pop up from time
to time to break up the punch 'n kick action. The
scenario in Dynamite Deka may be likened to the
Diehard movies where Bruce Willis' John McClaine
overcame and eventually dominated a group of
mayhem-minded rabble rousers. The male lead in
Dynamite Deka bears a striking resemblance to the
American actor and the skyscraper appears to have
been modeled directly after Nakatomi Tower.
Game Modes are as follows
Dynamite Deka Mode / Arcade mode with
enhanced graphics
Sega Saturn Mode / Saturn conversion with
Saturn graphics
Easy Mode / For gamers who can't hang,
try the baby mode
After clearing the game in each
mode, the following modes open up:
Arrest Mode
One Shot Kill Mode
Deadline Mode
There's also an Altered Beast Mode and secret
costumes for gamers to discover and parade around
in. Another bonus is Sega's first ever game which was
released in 1966 - Periscope - where a
submarine commander hunted enemy submarines. The
original game used an actual periscope mounted on the front
of the machine and model-based ships. Although it
wasn't a video game, it gave a hint as to the future
of self-contained amusement devices capable of
gobbling money. The version of Periscope included in
Dynamite Deka is a fully playable video game
interpretation of the original and is selectable
directly from the title screen. Before playing a
game, the Dual Shock pad may be used to focus on and
rotate around the Periscope cabinet. Press the
"TRIANGLE" button to check out details of the game
such as ships and waves.
The Gallery Mode of the game features a number of
illustrations, sales promotion flyers,
advertisements, and a sound player to listen to the BGM. Gamers who actually enjoy watching commercials
get to check out the ad that Sega used to spread
awareness of the Saturn version when it originally
shipped. The bonus historical sheet included inside
the game packaging features information on the
Dynamite Deka game along with commentary from
game director Makoto Uchida.
