Silmeria Artifact Box @ $289.34
Speculators appear to be on the
loose again this week and are snapping up supplies
of the Silmeria Artifact Box. Due to a newly
announced "shortage" situation in Japan, vendors
have raised our cost for the Valkyrie Profile
Silmeria Artifact Box to Y29,800 which converts to
US$259.34 based on this morning's exchange rate.
That's our cost before shipping charges. NCS
originally accepted preorders at US$155.
Four Valkyrie Profile Artifact boxes fit inside each factory
container. Estimating Express shipping costs at
approximately US$120 per carton, that's a per unit
shipping cost of US$30 for a total importation cost
of US$289.34 per Silmeria box.
An allocation of the Artifact Box is now available to ship to us
from Japan but we have asked our suppliers to hold
off on shipping them since we're not sure if
anyone's willing to pay nearly $300 for what is
basically a game, a figure, a soundtrack, and a
keychain. NCS will stock the regular version of VP
Silmeria tomorrow at US$78. Subtracting the cost of
the Silmeria game, that's $211.34 for a figure, a
soundtrack, and a keychain.
We'll send out an email to everyone on our preorder list today with
the bad news and for reconfirmation of their
preorders at the higher price. Our recommendation
is to cancel. If fewer customers opt to purchase
when prices are hiked nearly 100%, maybe speculators
will stop hijacking the business at opportune times.
There's also the chance that the prices are too high
this time around and buyers will strike, leaving
speculators no choice but to drop their prices back
down to normal levels and release supplies. |
