NDS Magical Vacation JPN

NDS Magical Vacation 5-tsu no Hoshi ga Narabu - New Import
«©NCSX» Somewhere in the cosmos is a 5-planet solar system known as Taro Taro. Orbiting within that system is a planet called Kovomaka, home of the Will 'O Wisp Magic School where gifted students learn to harness their abilities. One day, a brunette teacher goes missing and students from the school get into their space ships to look for her. When those students turn up missing as well, it's up to a hero or heroine to lead a party to rescue the whole group. At the outset of the game, an impetuous student named Jasmine throttles off in a rocket followed by the protagonist. When they crash land on a neighboring planet and are captured by the robotic denizens, only magic and guile will guide them through. «NCS G-Notes»

PS2 Fighting Beauty Wulong JPN

PS2 Fighting Beauty Wulong + Bonus Figure - New Import
«©NCSX» The first season of Fighting Beauty Wulong concluded on March 25, 2006 and Bandai rushes a fighting game based on the animation to market this week. The storyline revolves around a girl named Mao Ran who is the reluctant keeper of her family's fighting discipline which adapts well to women's professional wrestling. The PS2 game features 3D grappling action where Ran faces off against other she-devils in the ring as well as training exercises where she rousts groups of Yakuza, a bear, and assorted street goons who materialize out of thin air.

As the girls battle on stage, their bosoms seem to shudder with every blow and animated clothing as well as swishy hair add to the kinetic motion of the visuals. Purists will enjoy the Story Mode which faithfully follows the events of the animation and starts off with gramps tricking Ran into a wrestling tournament. Before she battles however, Ran has to punch and kick her way through rain-soaked streets brimming with thugs. Two players may bout in the VS Mode and a Collection Mode allows peepers to check the fighting amazons out as they punch, kick, and otherwise perform according to the options selected on screen. «NCS Game Notes»

PS2 King of Fighters XI JPN

PS2 King of Fighters XI + Bonus Postcards - New Import
«©NCSX» Invitations in white envelopes sealed with a crimson imprint are sent out once again, calling upon the world's mightiest fighters to join the eleventh King of Fighters tournament. Familiar faces such as KOF stalwarts Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami are joined by nine fighters such as Mai Shiranui, Tung Fu Rue, and Magaki that are new to the PS2 version of KOF XI. PS2 exclusive game modes include Endless Mode and Challenge Mode which features 40 mini fighting games. A Gallery Mode brims with full-color artwork and sketches while gamers in search of a challenge may hook up with other fighters in the Network Match Mode. Two new systems are introduced in KOF XI - the first is the Judgment System which decides the winner not by the amount of HP remaining but by the quality of your attacks and combinations. The second new system is the use of Skill Stocks which deplete when evasive moves are pulled off.
Upon starting the game, 33 fighters are shown in the character selection screen which are grouped in four batches of six along with a batch of nine in the middle of the screen. After selecting three fighters and designating team leader and order of battle, a match starts. Movement may be directed with either the D-pad or L-analog stick. «NCS Game Notes»

PSP Korokoro! Koron JPN

PSP Korokoro! Koron - New Import
«©NCSX» Building on the Kollon game from 2004, publisher Cyber Front updates the puzzler with new modes and an improved visual layout. A total of eight characters are featured which animate and step lively on the side of the screen as the puzzle action rolls along. The gist of the game is this: control a 2x2 grid overlay and use it to rotate 2x2 groups of colored crooked-smiley-face blocks. The aim is to create matches of at least four contiguous blocks around the cluttered playfield. When a match is made, the blocks will start spinning and that's your cue to try and rotate more like-colored blocks to touch the morass or ignite other color combinations elsewhere. With so many blocks on the board at any time, chain combos are ripe for the making as little matches have the potential to turn into swarms of block busting chains. A wrinkle in the game comes from blocks which merge and become irregularly shaped or too large for the standard 2x2 grid overlay to rotate. When this happens, color combinations must be made next to the odd-blocks in order to fade them from the screen.
While the color-matching is happening, the conglomeration of blocks on screen slowly move upwards as new squares are added to the playfield. All games pit the player against a COM-controlled character in a split-screen playfield. The Arcade and Campaign modes make up the main game options but two players may also link up for an ad hoc Versus Mode challenge. For new players unaccustomed to the play mechanics, a Tutorial Mode teaches the ways of block rotation and techniques for triggering combos.

PSP Nou ni Kaikan: Aha Taiken JPN

PSP Nou ni Kaikan: Aha Taiken - New Import
«©NCSX» The English words "aha" and "eureka" share similar meanings. When one discovers a secret or hidden truism, the word "aha" may bellow forth from one's trembling lips. Similarly, when one finds out the true meaning of life, the word "eureka" may be hissed to no one in particular. With the latest "Brain Game" from Sega, moments of "aha" and "eureka" may be in order as the player goes on a path of discovery.

Sega teamed up with Kenichiro Mogi from the Sony Computer Science Research Lab to create a brain game which focuses on photographs and the differences in them. Professor Mogi is a specialist in brain science who's research centers on the relationship between the physical brain and the perception of the mind. For example, one may be prompted to stare at a photograph and then another photograph that's nearly identical to the first one. Point out the very subtle difference in the second photograph and prove that your brain power generates enough electricity to power a hamster wheel. Another photographic challenge uses only one picture but something gradually changes somewhere in the photo. While not as difficult as the first photo challenge, testers will have to dart their eyes around the screen to spot the change as it slowly occurs. A third exercise shows the user a short film and an irregularity must be spotted. The software includes over a 100 exercises and over 4000 photos which feature disparate themes and locations for a wide variety of subject matter to test perception.
