Game Synopsis
«©NCSX»
If your childhood was fraught with inner city
dwelling, latch-key living, car exhaust huffing,
fear of abduction having, bellicose kids bullying,
no fun enjoying... kind of life, SCE has a little
therapy for you. My Summer Holiday takes gamers
back. All the way back to an alternate reality in
1975 when life was carefree and fun. This particular childhood
memory features a summer vacation with an aunt and uncle in a
country town full of greenery, blue skies, rivers
brimming with fresh water, and most
importantly, insects. Little boys love to catch and
catalog bugs.
Take on the persona of a 9-year old lad named Boku whose mother is
about to have a baby boy. With temperaments frayed
and nerves at wits end, Boku is sent to live with
his aunt, uncle, and two cousins in the country for
the month of August. Since Boku is a born and bred
city boy, he has never had a
close encounter with mother nature and all the
insects that live in her world. Once he hits the
country, Boku goes on a
collecting spree where bugs of all stripes are
caught, collected, and properly categorized in a
little virtual insect gallery. A total of 128
species are featured in the game and insects may be
traded with other PSP players via ad hoc mode.
Boku's weapon of choice is a butterfly net which is
swung around to catch bugs and deposit them into a
specimen box. In addition to insect catching, other
activities include rhinoceros beetle wrestling,
fishing, kite flying, watching fireworks, firefly
hunting, and many more for an eventful summer.

NCS Game Notes
» My Summer Holiday was originally released on the
Playstation console in June of 2000. The PSP version
doubles the number of insects in the game and three
new characters are featured in the PSP version
including a helpful teacher who has a well of
knowledge on insects and the joys of nature in
general.
» The alternate name for the game is Boku no Natsuyasumi: Summer
Holiday.
» In
order to catalog and save an insect to memory stick,
Boku must take the specimen home and bring it up to
his desk. Press the "O-button" and select the first
choice to mount the bug to a specimen case. Once
Boku has collected a good number of insects, it
possible to pore over them with a magnifying glass
and check them out.
» The beetle battles are entertaining to watch and
generally last for a few seconds. Note that Boku has
no control over the outcome of a contest but it's
wise to collect as big a beetle as possible to
ensure consistent victories.
