«©NCSX» Learn English by way of simple exercises that focus on proper pronunciation with the aid of digital speech samples. For example, the word "accident" is shown on the screen along with a definition in Japanese. To listen to the pronunciation of the word, tap on the speaker icon and a clear female voice speaks the word and the user repeats it to the best of his or her ability. In this manner, the eager learner not only intonates the word as heard but understands the meaning as well. The DS Seminar software includes 2000 English words to learn, practice, and hone for the time when a Japanese citizen visits America or the United Kingdom and communicates with the natives. Tatsuya Nakata, a graduate of Rikkyo University, Institute for American Studies in Tokyo supervised the production of DS Seminar to pave the way for Japanese to learn English in an amicable manner.
 

 

NCS Product Notes
» Up to three users can store their profiles and settings on the DS card.

» In addition to the definition of an English word that's presented in Japanese, the word is also used in an English sentence to show context and proper usage.

» An English diagnostic tool may be used to gauge one's English skills. The 2000 words included in DS Seminar may be used to create simple sentences and elementary phrases for use in everyday conversation. TDK touts a junior high school level proficiency once one has mastered all 2000 words.

» Tests may be taken to bolster English skills and understanding of various words that are presented on screen.

» An English word game with a simple story line may be played.

» A simple dictionary for all 2000 words serves as a handy reference guide.
