NDS Mawasunda - New Import

NCS Product Synopsis
«©NCSX»
Originally released in Japanese arcades in 2000, Mawasunda features a collection of 25 mini games that are grouped into categories which require stylus power, technique, and speed. The DS conversion features the same games as the original but with the addition of five new games and stylus powered action. The mini games involve such disparate themes as baseball, geisha kimono unraveling, weight lifting, pottery making, elevator action, food gobbling, food preparation, airplane flight, skateboarding, ice shaving, and even a good old game of Arkanoid. A variant of Bubble Bobble is in there also for seekers of retro Taito gaming. The central theme of each mini-game is the spin factor where the stylus is dragged around in a circle on the DS touch screen to effect the desired results and attain goals.

NCS Game Notes
» The Arkanoid mini-game features the original jingles and sound effects. The game may be played with the d-pad and face buttons instead of the stylus. We recommend the d-pad since the level of control of the stylus over the Vaus is a little off. Power-ups may be used in conjunction with each other - for example, if you've collected an "E" for expand and then collect an "S" for slow and a "D" for divide, all the effects of the capsules are retained.

» Another familiar game featured is Cameltry where players maneuver a maze to get a ball to a goal. We recommend the d-pad in this mini-game as well since the stylus' level of control over such a precise task is offputting.

» There are two mini-games which involve people who are teetering. The first involves a crowd of people who are standing inside a subway car. Every once in a while, the subway jerks left or right and the people start teetering. Your job is to spin the stylus around in the opposite direction so that they don't fall down. The second game features two drunks who are walking to the train station and can barely keep their balance, When they teeter too far to one side of the street, rotate the stylus in the opposite direction to get them back on the straight and narrow. Lined up on the sides of the street are yakuza, gangsters, prostitutes, and other ruffians who will perform a smackdown if the two drunks should touch them.

NCS Consensus
An enjoyable collection of mini-games with a unique control factor. Some of the games were clearly not designed for use with the stylus but the game overcomes this restriction by allowing the use of the d-pad and face buttons to play. We're guessing that there's some unlockable mini-games and we'll post them up once we find them.
