NDS Mushiking: The Road to Greatest Champion 2 - New Import

NCS Game Synopsis

After selling over 800,000 copies of the GBA and NDS versions of MushiKing, Sega draws another crowd with a new and updated version of the game. Beetle battling action returns to the Nintendo DS where shelled insects grapple like six-legged wrestlers. The means of battle is janken where hand signs are thrown out by pushing the d-pad - up is for fist (rock), right is for open palm (paper), and left is for the victory sign (scissors). They stylus may also be used to tap out moves. The game features 50 varieties of beetles and over 100 beetle cards which represent attacks, special effects, and defense. Special cards designed exclusively for the Nintendo DS game are also included to make players feel special. For multi-player tournaments, up to eight players may link up for wireless battles.

When selecting a card for battle, the cards are scrolled through on a wheel of sorts where each face is seen on the screen. To check out the values, tap on the card and a second screen appears with a larger view and stats on the right. Before a battle begins, the beetle combatants are shown in a marquee on the upper DS screen while lightning blazes around them. At the start of the conflict, a view of the wilderness floor appears and each beetle rises up and acts fierce for the camera. The contest begins and the beetles get to hemming and hawing away at each other as groaning and grunting noises are heard. As the beetle perform their pugilistic dance, select a janken move from the three possible choices and the other beetle will also do a move within the 10 second time limit. If you throw out a hammer and the enemy throws scissor, your beetle will poke its horn under its opponent and throw it to inflict damage. The victor of the battle wins by playing janken well (luck, really) and once the game is won, the defeated beetle lies on its back, apparently dead.
