   To add atmosphere and bold aural strokes to the Silmeria experience, composer Motoi Sakuraba crafts a beautiful soundtrack with sweeping arrangements and thoughtful emotion-invoking interludes. «©NCSX» Relatively unknown in the West, Derby Stallion is nevertheless a famous and beloved franchise in Japan. The game has appeared on all of the major consoles since the Famicom days and a version is already slated for the Playstation 3 when Sony's new wunderkind reaches market. Until then, Enterbrain mines potential gold with a Playstation Portable version of Derby Stallion which features racing programs and horse data from the current 2006 season.
   Return to the ranch and play the part of a horse baron who breeds horses, directs the jockeys, and lords over the fledgling kingdom with a kung-fu grip. At the outset of the game, the player is granted a bankroll of ¥20,000,000 which is about US$200,000. With funds in hand, the first task is to buy a horse from a wide range of available steeds with names such as "What a Pleasure," "Honeys Alibi," "Sir Gaylord," "Northern Dancer," "Never Say Die," "Vaguely Noble," and other monikers that will only be found in the horse world.
   The Sire Lineage of a horse may be viewed along with the Effect by pressing the TRIANGLE button. Once a horse is purchased, the steed is deposited instantaneously on the player's field where it prances around and waits for instruction and grooming. The goal of the game is to train a horse and enter it into racing contests for monetary rewards and recognition. To help gamers avoid fatigue, Sanei releases the NDS Stand which holds the unit atop a table for you. All you need to do is rest your hands on top of the table near the NDS+Stand and position your thumbs accordingly. 
   Three color variants are available: Crystal White, Enamel Blue, and Ice Blue to match the color schemes of the three original NDS Lite handhelds. Although the NDS Stands were designed for the Lite model, a side brace may be rotated so that original Nintendo DS units may also be mounted on the stand as well. Once found on every conceivable product, Pokemon don't appear as often as they once did but that won't stop them from carrying pouch cameos. Pikachu scampers on an aqua blue pouch while Purasuru (aka Plusle) and Mainan (aka Minun) clown on the orange-colored pouch. The main pocket holds a Nintendo DS Lite while a flap on the pouch cover holds a couple of DS cards. A metal ring on the top of the pouch links to loops and snags. «Photo Gallery»

NCS sleuths were able to figure this out without any help. Made of a cushiony material and decorated with semi-shiny string and emblems, the Stylist Case holds a Nintendo DS Lite in its main pocket and a couple of DS cards in the smaller inner pouch. A strap is included inside the package which tethers the case to a girl's waist or shoulder. Two styles are in stock today: White Case with Gold Trim and Pink Case with Black Trim. Big and beefy, the TPM features a substantial cylinder for Nintendo DS gamers to clutch. Seven grooves etched around the barrel provide added grip to ensure that no slippage occurs. «©NCSX» In NCS' offices, we have pens. Bics, Papermates, and the occasional Montblanc Meisterstück with the razor tip that serves double duty as a killing instrument. No pencils are to be found and there hasn't been since we've been in grade school. That is, until now.
   Nintendo manufactures a pair of pencil replicas that serve as NDS touch pens. They look like pencils, down to the simulated colored wood and graphite tip. A notch carved through the end of the pencil serves as a through hole for strap or wire insertion to hook the pencil to a loop or latch. The stylus features a thick barrel that's comfortable to hold and if one buys into the illusion, sort of feels like a No. 2 pencil. «Photos»
