Game Synopsis
«©NCSX»
Three girls' schools are perched on Astraea Hill - Saint Miator Girls' Academy, Saint Spica's Academy,
and Lelim Girls' School. St Miator is the most
prestigious but Saint Spica tenders a tempered
rivalry against it. Lelim is a more laid-back campus
with girls who are content to watch the drama play
out between the two other schools. To add to the hi jinx,
students from the three schools share a common dormitory
known as Strawberry Dormitory. One consequence of
all the girls' schools on the hill is that it
is a sacred area and no men are allowed to enter. As
such, the girls find their romantic entanglements
with each other.
At the outset of the game, players may select to
play as a character from one of the three schools
featured in the series as follows:
Aoi Nagisa of St Miator's Girl's Academy
Hikari Konohana of St Spica's Academy
Kizuna Hyuuga of Lelim Girl's School
Nine other main characters from the Strawberry Panic
animation are featured in the game as follows:
St Miator Girls' Academy:
Shizuma Hanazono
Tamao Suzumi
Chiyo Tsukidate
St Spica's Academy
Amane Ohtori
Yaya Nanto
Tsubomi Okuwaka
Lelim Girls' School
Chikaru Minamoto
Remon Natsume
Kagome Byakudan
Romance is in the air and each girl protagonist may
hook up with any one of the other nine girls for a
total of 27 coupling possibilities. Even her lordship,
the Etoile of the three schools, Shizuma Hanazono is
fair game for romancing.
The game is played over the course of a school
semester with the first day landing on April 1. Each day concludes with an SD image
of the heroine slumped over her computer in her room
with an email message from a girl that she has
interacted with during the day. As the
heroine sleeps, the object of her affection appears
in a thought bubble above her head. The first day in the game requires over a
full hour of non-interactive reading and getting acquainted with the
girls. On the first day of class, Nagisa gets
acquainted with Chiyo but the second day has her
feeling love for Amane. A procession of other girls
fill up the next few days...

Game Notes
» In the intro to the game, a diary appears on a
desk - its pages open and reveal images of the three
schools on Astraea Hill. In the next scene, the gals
of the schools are shown in intimate situations such
as bathing, smiling at each other, cavorting in
bathing suits, combing each other's hair, embracing,
clasping hands, and being together. All of the main
characters are shown followed by photographs that
are scattered on a desk. The camera moves back to
views of the three schools and the dormitory before
flying upwards to the clouds and reversing to take a
closing shot of the school grounds from overhead.
The title screen appears soon afterwards.
» The game uses an angel / devil system where
miniature angel and devil versions of each girl
float beside her when critical decisions have to be
made. Tsubomi's pink-haired devil and angel are
particularly endearing.
» All of the voice actresses who provided vocals for
the animation series reprise their roles in the PS2
game.
» Hanazoku's hair is tamer in the game than in the
animation. Her face is also softer and more rounded.
The art style of the game makes all of the girls
more rounded.
» In the standard game, players choose either Nagisa,
Kizuna, or Hikari as the protagonist. In Nagisa's
game beginning, she has an encounter with Hanazono
inside the church before walking outside and meeting
a curious Suzumi. She later greets Chiyo and Amane
as well as all of the other girls in the game who
appear in different locations on the school grounds.
For example, Chikaru hangs out inside the greenhouse
while the green-haired Remon relaxes inside a
classroom. After all of the other girls are
introduced, the camera switches views to an overhead
view of all three schools and the grounds that they
are situated upon. The body of water at the center,
the tall church spires, and other buildings may be
seen.
» At the outset of a standard game, the date is
April 1 and the school bell rings. If playing as
Nagisa, she'll go to the basketball court where the
murmur of a crowd may be heard but the crowd is
invisible. Gamers only get to see an empty
basketball court with a dialogue box for Nagisa
providing commentary on the situation.
» To advance the dialogue automatically instead of
pressing "O" each time, press the TRIANGLE button.
To automatically advance the dialogue faster, press
the SQUARE button. The entire first hour of the game
is non-interactive so you can toggle the
auto-forward on and watch the proceedings without
having to push the "O" button every time a dialogue
box needs to be advanced.
» To view the full screen of the game without the
dialogue box, press either the L2 or R2 triggerr.
Press again to toggle the dialogue box back on
screen. To view the complete dialogue script that
has happened already, press either the L1 or R2
trigger. To scroll through the dialogue, move the
d-pad up and down.
» Players may play the game in a Boys Mode or a
Girls Mode. In Boys Mode, the protagonist is the
brother of one of the gals and receives updates via
email from sister. Boys are not allowed on Astraea
Hill so digital news is the only way to get updated
on the happenings at the schools.
» Progress in the game may be saved at any time by
pressing the START button and highlighting the third
option from the top. The game offers a bountiful
amount of save slots (50 total across 5 pages) as
long as your memory card has the capacity. NCS
recommends the Mega Memory if you're interested in
archiving and keeping save positions of key points
in the game for posterity.
Animation Series Details
On the first day of school, transfer student Aoi
Nagisa is so busy admiring the uniforms of her
fellow students that she accidentally tumbles down a
hill. As she dusts herself off, a beautiful young
woman named Hanazono Shizuma appears before her and
picks up Aoi's dropped pink kitty kat keychain. As
their hands touch, Hanazono feels a little
something. Maybe it's electricity as Aoi thanks her
and the two feel magnetism between each other. Hanazono
steps closer and gingerly plants a kiss on Aoi's
forehead... who then faints in a heap.
In the next
scene, Aoi jolts awake in a bed and wonders
if it was all a dream. She soon notices the friendly
girl seated beside her bed who introduces herself as Suzumi Tamao and that she's in the infirmary of St.
Miator's Girl's Academy. Suzumi informs Aoi that
they're in the same class and the two are
roommates at the Astraea Dormitory. As the two talk,
Suzumi mentions that she watched Aoi as she slept
and remarks that she's very cute. From there,
unnecessary measurement taking, a midnight tea
party, general
shenanigans, and attractive young women in love with
each other kicks off.
