Game Synopsis
«©NCSX»
A bushy-tailed chipmunk serves as the emcee for
Ertain's digital coloring book where players stare
at a colorful image and try to copy and recreate its
colors on a monochrome clone of the target picture. For example, the first exercise features
an image of an apple and leaves on a branch. By using
four types of pens, a color palette, an eraser, and
a 2X magnifier, an amateur colorist must copy the subtle colors and nuances
from the source image to the image copy. NCS
staffers spent 30-minutes on the apple image and we
learned that our coloring skills are severely
lacking based on the crude final product. Along with
the intricate coloring challenges, a number of
mini-games may also be enjoyed to add a little
variety to the coloring action.

Game Notes
» Before starting any exercise, players have
the option of using colored pencils, watercolors, or
oil-based paint.
» One mini-game has the
player drawing a line through a convoluted route to
test accuracy
while another features whack-a-squirrel action. Yet
another mini-game shows a scrambled
image which must be shuffled around to unscramble it.
» A color mixer is available in the water
color and oil modes where two or more colors are
combined to create a new hue.
» In the colored pencil mode, a sort of "spray" tool
is available by simply blowing into the NDS
microphone to move paint over an area. For example,
if you color a line of red across and area and blow
on the microphone, the entire line will flutter
upwards. This tool is useful for adding colored
specks to a piece. To activate the tool, tap the
feather icon on the right sidebar.
» Four types of colored
pencils are available - fine point, medium point,
horizontal, and vertical. If you dab a line of color
horizontally with the vertical pencil activated, the
result will be a thick vertical line that's made up
of specks of color due to the vertical influence of
the pencil.
» Since the degree of work and concentration
required to copy the colors of an image is so high,
NCS recommends working in the X2 magnification mode
for a detailed look at all of the fine lines and subtle color
tones in the image.
