NCS Game Synopsis
«©NCSX»
A seeming crime of passion and a false accusation
earns the protagonist a trip to the big house. While
en route to prison, the paddy wagon flips and
careens into a fence. With a new lease on life, the
hero runs from the burning vehicle and into the
neon-lit avenues of a gritty metropolitan city.
Since it's towards the evening hours, the streets
are peppered with ladies of the night in suggestive
clothing and a number of regular Joe Sixpacks. The
hero has 10 hours to make his way out of the city
and escape the criminal element (Mafia, if you will)
on his heels as well as the police who are after
him.
As the back story goes, the player's character was a reporter who
investigated the Mafia which led to his false
accusation and subsequent frame and conviction. Can
he clear his name in 10 hours and evade the
hooligans on his tail? By using fists and the
ability to abscond a victim's clothing, the hero can
disguise himself to look like an average Joe or even
one of the prostitutes. For example, hero may walk
up to a streetwalker and beat her down. Once unconscious,
hover over her while pressing the "O-Button"
furiously to make the clothing swap. By using
disguise, thug tactics, and theft, the hero makes his way out of Los City.

Game Notes
» Tamsoft developed
the Toubou Prisoner for D3P.
» At the outset, the hero wears an orange jumpsuit and may approach
average citizens on the sidewalks of mostly deserted
streets. Scenarios include day scenarios and night
time scenarios where the streets are mostly quiet except for the occasional pedestrian who
stands on a sidewalk without doing anything or
reacting to your passage.
» Game may be played in Easy, Normal, or Hard mode.
» In the intro to the game, the backdrop of Los City
and the protagonist
is explained and a gritty neighborhood is shown pan
'n scan style. The hero of the game was once
a reporter. No more. When his girlfriend is killed
and he's falsely accused, he's convicted of a crime
of passion. While being sent to prison, a stroke of
up allows him to
break out and go on the lam...
»
The game starts at 6:40PM in Los City Somewhere and a
police van is transporting a vato (with Leon the
assassin shades)
in handcuffs to his new home. The
protagonist sits across from him and is also in
cuffs. Both are wearing bright orange prison
uniforms and the screen shakes and stutters as the
van motors along the highway. After a short while, gunshots are heard
repeatedly and the van crashes with the sound of
glass breaking.
» Act 1: A Runaway - You're the runner in Monica Town
and the first scene you see is the van flipped over
and crashed through a fence while billowing flames
and black smoke belch forth from the undercarriage.
After a while, control is handed over to the player.
CONTROLS
L-Analog.............Movement
R-Analog.............Camera swivel
SQURE................Attack
CROSS................Forward roll
CIRCLE...............Talk to pedestrian
L1-TRIGGER........Crouch
L2-TRIGGER........Center camera
R1-TRIGGER........Hold down and move L-A to run (uses up
stamina)
R2-TRIGGER........Hold down and move L-A to skulk along
like Solid Snake
» Stamina decreases when a barrel roll is performed
but continual running doesn't put a dent on the
stamina gauge.
» Even though your guy is wearing an orange prison
jumpsuit, you can walk right up to a number of cops
that are standing in the first level and they're
none the wiser after interacting with you. To get
something going, attack the third cop that you
encounter and knock him down. He'll call his buddies
but continue to beat him until he's unconscious.
Once he's down, hover over his body and press the
"O" button rapidly to take his uniform and dress up
like a cop. The other police officers will arrive
and attack but beat them down and also steal
their uniforms to make their bodies disappear.
Reinforcements will arrive and shoot to kill if
you're not careful.
» It's possible to beat down on one of the
prostitutes on
the street and knock her unconscious. If you do the
"O-button" pressing routine over her, your guy will be dressed in
her bikini, tight jeans, and brown boots and look
very, very odd. When running, the protagonist
develops a strangely spritely gait where he seemingly
skips.
» When two cops gang up on you, allow one of them to
grab you in a hold from the back. Next, attack and
you'll throw him at the other cop and knock them
both out at the same time.
» Crates may be broken to uncover cheeseburgers which recover health points.
» There's a D3 Store in the first level with yellow
and pink neon fluorescent tubing lights on the top
of the building.
» The Toubou Prisoner is somewhat reminiscent of
Rockstar's Manhunt but it's missing the stealth
kills and the perfect control of that earlier game.
What Toubou Prisoner does bring to the table is an
interesting premise that's executed well. The
controls are acceptable and the camera can be
controlled at all times to change vantage points
while running or standing still.
