NDS Dragon Quest Monsters Joker - New Import, In Stock

NCS Game Synopsis
«©NCSX»
Revisit the world of Dragon Quest with a new 3D adventure where players take control of a silver-maned lad. Since Akira Toriyama designed the character, the hero sports a hairstyle that is reminiscent of DBZ fighters. At the outset of the game, the first monster obtained is a chubby Dracky (it looks like a fat demon with bat wings and a tail) but additional monsters may be recruited into your party during encounters. The hero starts off with 150G and the mission is to enter the Joker Grand Prix with a troupe of monsters to become the top dog of the tournament. In the early part of the adventure, blue slimes are the most common enemies and they'll gleefully bound towards you to attack. As your Dracky levels up however, they'll turn tail and run when they spot your crew.

NCS Game Notes
» Begin a new game and you're prompted to enter a name for the hero - input may be entered in kana or English. Tap OK and a jailer walks slowly and stops in front of a lad seated on a plank attached to the wall with two chains. The hero is a silver-haired lad who wears a red kerchef around his neck and a red / blue colored outfit. The jailer beckons him to follow. In the next scene, hero's in the office of a curator who's an old guy with a Colonel Sanders mustache and a dark gray suit. He speaks to the hero about the Joker GP tournament and hands him a green Scout Ring as an incentive.

»
Control is handed over to the player at this point. A map of the local area appears on the touch screen and hero is located in a library with the old guy. To exit, spin around and go through the door.

»
The first monster that you receive is a portly black bat creature with a long tail and bat-like wings which it flaps to stay aloft. It's a Dracky. We wanted to name it "FatBat" but since there's only space for three letters, we had to curtail the moniker to "Fab."

»
The action takes place on the top screen while the touch screen shows a map of the local area. Tapping the stylus on the map doesn't do anything other than toggle between the MENU option screen and full on MAP. On the upper left corner, two dialogue boxes for your hero and your new monster pet is shown. Tapping on hero or monster will open up a statistics menu which shows attributes and items in stock as well as running playtime.

»
Movement is handled entirely through the D-pad and the camera may be rotated around with the L or R trigger.

»
Akira Toriyama designed the characters in the game. The lead hero sports Toriyama-esque hair style where the silvery locks spike upwards like a flowing sculpture of granite that points towards the left when viewed head-on.

»
The cel-shaded visuals of the game approximate what you'd find on a PS2 Dragon Quest game and the world looks and feels like a full blown DQ enviroment with bright colors, well-defined characters, and snappy animation. When the silver-maned hero runs around, he really chugs along with arms pumping up and down as he hunches forward and thrusts ahead.

» It's fairly easy to avoid encounters since the hero will always run faster than any creature in the game. They'll lose interest after chasing you for a few seconds.
