unlocked by meeting certain conditions while playing
the game.

the Saint Seiya crew are running towards the screen
before the logo appears followed by some action
poses of the cast dressed in golden armor. Various

An additional 21 characters are shown on the character selection
strip in shadow that must be unlocked before they
can be used.
»
Five locales are selectable as fighting stages in

and the game starts.
»
Before a battle, the fighter pose and mutter sweet
nothings to each other.
»
Either the d-pad or L-analog may be used for
movement. The button controls are:
TRIANGLE.... Projectile attack
SQUARE...... Weak attack
CROSS....... Medium attack
CIRCLE...... Strong attack
L1-TRIGGER.. Power-up
R1-TRIGGER.. Block
»
The action runs fast and there's loads of special
attacks and animated attack sequences to keep things
exciting but the fighting itself is flighty.
»
When you knock an opponent out, he has a chance to
revive by smashing the face buttons. A slow-motion
sequence also plays when you knock an opponent out
where he's blown backwards in bullet time as the
camera pans away to take in a dramatic shot of the
brutal beat down. After each successful battle, the
fighter poses with some arm waving action and you're
ranked on your performance.
»
The text that the announcer says before a battle is:
"Ready," "Burn."
»
Moving the d-pad or l-analog down or up will make
your fighter orbit around the opponent at an
equidistant radius. To close the distance, move left
to head on in for the battle.
»
The fighters scream and yell often when throwing
punches and taking them. All of the spoken dialogue
from the fighters is in Japanese but the announcer
speaks "You Win" and other text in English.
»
The Story Mode begins with a static image and a
voice over spoken by an old dude in a straw hat. As
the story goes, it was 243 years ago when Athena
sealed the Lord of Hades away but the seal has
weakened. Hades' minions of 108 diabolic knights are
seeking his revival.
»
The first sequence in Story Mode features a gold
armored warrior with pink hair named MU walking into
the Sanctuary which is surrounded by columns. MU is
holding his gold helmet under his right arm. He
stands in front of an altar of some sort when a dark
cloaked Specter enters the scene and confront him.
It's Death Mask followed by Aphrodite. The camera
pans out to reveal three more cloaked figures on an
elevated position above. After a loading sequence, a
blue haired guy with purple eyebrows and purple
sparkling armor appears. Pegasus Seiya joins the
party and the dark robed malcontents are taken by
surprise and intonate "Seiya!" in chorus. After some
dialogue, a battle begins between Pegasus and Death
Mask.
»
The columns in the first level are destructible.
Bash them and they'll cause the ground to rumble as
they fall downwards into nothingness.
»
After destroying Death Mask, the game prompts you to
save your progress to memory card.
»
Immediately after the battle, Death Mask is still
talking to Pegasus Seiya and Pegasus falters.
»
In the next level, MU challenges Death Mask. MU
fights in a very elegant manner with subtle strokes
and genteel arm motions. His posture is perfect.
After defeating Death Mask, Aphrodite immediately
rushes into battle. When she gets beat down, her
goddess says "Afuro-dee-tee" as she slowly revives.
»
In the next battle, MU faces off against Shura
followed by a battle against Camus followed by a
battle against Saga. Between the various battles are
interaction sequences and dialogue between the
Specters and MU. After the battle with Saga, a
lengthy sequence plays which is capped by a static
images that move the Hades storyline along
accompanied by a voiceover and text underneath the
static images. .
»
After MU's fighting stages, the next battle pits
Gemini against Saga with you controlling Gemini who
wears more gold than Midas.
