NCS Game Synopsis
«©NCS» The
crudely drawn Shinnosuke Nohara (Shin-Chan) is an
irascible kindergartner who leers at adult women,
raises a ruckus, and generally causes trouble
wherever he goes. Join him in an action-adventure
game that mixes platform action sequences with
simple stylus scribbling puzzles. The early batch of
puzzles are intuitive but later scenarios prove to
require a bit more trial and error to figure out.
One example of an early puzzle is when Shin-Chan has
to figure out a way to stop the traffic so Matsuzaka
can drive her pink car through. A traffic light at
the top of the screen shows green for the traffic at
the intersection but red for Matsuzaka. To make the
traffic stop, tap the crayon icon on the touch
screen and then scribble crimson crayon color over the
traffic light to switch it to red.

NCS Game Notes & Spoilers
»
At the outset of the game, it's
night time and the dogs are barking. Inside a house,
Shin-chan is sleeping in patchwork pajamas while his
family sleeps around him. His covers are kicked
to the side. Morning arrives and Shin-chan is up and
outside in a flash. In the next scene,
Matsuzaka-sensei drives up
in a
pink car and is about to take Shin-chan on a
ride when the wind blows her white hat off.
»
Since Matsuzaka can't proceed without her precious
hat, leap out
of the car and then proceed to the left. The hat is lying on top of the "Bingo"
sign so jump and climb up on the pole next to the
sign and then nab the hat. When he retrieves the hat for
Matsuzaka, they're
about to roll when their path is blocked by a truck.
»
Take control of Shin-chan once again and double jump
to the top of the truck and notice that the truck
can't go because the light is against it. Continue
walking to the right and you'll chance upon a busy intersection.
The traffic light is green so you'll have to use
your little pack of crayons and color the light red
so that the cars obey the signal. Tap on the crayon icon on the
touch screen and then select the red crayon which is
on the left-most side of the six-pack of crayons.
Once selected, doodle red scratches over the traffic
light and it'll turn red. Run back to the pink car
and you're off again until the next traffic light.
»
Afterwards, they stop at a serene area when Matsuzaka is accosted by two ruffians. One of them
is bigger than the car and is sucking on a lollipop.
Action Kamen appears and instructs Shin-Chan on the
ways of combat. To
defeat the one wearing the Hawaiian shirt, perform a
double jump on top of him and he'll lose his hair
and get bopped off. To defeat the gorilla-like
gargantuan, press the "A button" to perform a
horizontal spin move which gouges him squarely on
the buttocks. He'll grasp himself in pain and then
drop off the face of the earth.
»
If you continue
towards the right, descend the stairs and you'll be
greeted by the screams of three girls who run
towards and then pass you in bikinis. To find the
object of their consternation, move right and find
black-costumed munchkins walking around the beach.
To defeat them, jump on top of them and they'll
disappear. Continue onwards and you'll eventually
reach the pier where Matsuzaka joins you. They see a
boat with a tattered sail and a patched hull. To fix
the sail, use the white crayon and fill the triangle
within the sail wood frame in. When done, a white
sail with the word "LOVE" on it pops into view and
you're ready to go.
»
In the next scene, the two lovebirds are sailing
while a red sun pulsates overhead. A leak soon
springs on the bottom of the boat and a little
geyser shoots up. To fix it, use the brown crayon to
patch it up. Three more leaks will eventually spring
and you'll use the brown crayon to patch them up
also. During this phase, every bit of the broken boat
must be colored over or the patch won't take
and you'll have to start over again. As they
continue sailing, day turns to sunset and then to
night as shown by falling backdrops that clatter
into place.
»
When you reach the iceberg with a mastodon inside,
melt it by using the red crayon and draw it over the
moon. It'll flip and turn into the sun which shines
down and melts the ice, thus allowing you to pass.
»
The mastodon will later emerge from the depths and
tip your boat to one side. To defeat it, jump on top
of its head four times and it'll zoom off into the
distance because its inner tube got busted.
»
All of the dialogue in the game is voiced by the
show's actors which is an impressive feat for a rom-based
game.
»
Shin-Chan can wear different costumes including one
stage where a melon drops on him and he wears the
melon. The special power in the melon form is the
green coiled vine on top which allows him to hang
from other
vines. The vine may be shot out by pressing either
the A or Y button. This stage is based on the Jack
and the Beanstalk fairy tale and you'll bump into
Jack in the early part of the level.
Later in the level, Shin-Chan will encounter the
Giant's smelly feet and a big beer mug that's empty.
The mug is attached to the Giant and to make him move it,
use the yellow crayon to scribble some beer inside
the mug. Once filled, the lout will lift up the mug
and drink his fill. While he's drinking, use that
time to scoot across before the mug comes down
again.
»
Other costumes
include a snail, a kangaroo who holds boxing gloves
on sticks, and a purple beetle with mandibles. Once
you complete a level with a certain costume, it is
available for use in other levels.
»
In the snail stage, the first crayon puzzle requires
that you use the black crayon to color the white
cloud so that it'll turn stormy and dark. It'll then
move above the mushroom and rain upon it so it'll
bloom bigger and Shin-Chan's snail form can slither
on it. The cobwebs in the level can also be
replenished by using the white crayon to scribble
over tattered webs.
»
In the beetle incarnation stage, use the red crayon
to scribble over the candles so that the moths are
drawn to it instead of you.
»
Shin-Chan may gain the help of confederates by
locating their icons in the various levels. For
example, once you locate the icon for Action Kamen,
he will swoop in and save Shin-Chan whenever he
drops off steep cliffs.
