PSP Dance Battle Audition Portable - New Import, In Stock

NCS Game Synopsis
«©NCS» During an audition, an aspiring star attempts to impress talent or casting agents by singing and dancing. Move and flow like Deer Park Spring water and you might get a callback. Audition Portable is sort of like that. Based on the popular Audition Online game for the PC, PSP players get to follow arrow cues ala DDR and watch as their onscreen dancer performs. If you hit the cues brilliantly, the dancer sways and spins like a hero. Botch the cues however and your tiny dancer may appear to be inebriated as her two left feet get in the way of themselves.

Audition Portable features a 67 song track list with a mix of Korean pop, trance, club music, and more. While one can play the game solo, a network mode option allows up to six players to participate. As mentioned earlier, the cues consist of a sequence of arrows that point north, south, east, and west. To match them, tug on the d-pad accordingly in the directions as they appear. Once the string of cues have been hit, wait for the "closing cue" to complete the move. As you finish each string, you'll be ranked with "Miss," "Bad," "Cool," "Great," and "Perfect." Chain a number of "Perfect" rankings together and you'll be earning bonus points to scale up your score and racking up Den points. For the uninitiated, Den is the coin of the realm in the world of Dance Battle Audition. With a man-purse full of Den, players may purchase goodies and outfits. Occasionally, a red-colored arrow cue appears which indicates a reversal move. For example, if a red up-arrow appears, push downwards on the d-pad. It's a little mental trick to trip players up.

NCS Game Notes
» Press START on the title screen and the following selections appear:

FREE MODE / Play EASY, NORMAL, HARD, or VERY HARD solo dancing with a selection of songs
STANDARD MODE / Play a regulation game against a COM-controlled dancer in 4-Button Mode or 8-Button Mode if you're up for a challenge
NETWORK MODE / Set your PSP as a HOST or JOIN a network session already in progress for multiplayer action
OPTION / Toggle BGM, EFFECT, CAMERA WORK, AUTO SAVE [On or Off] and LOAD/SAVE/DELETE DATA
JUKE BOX / Listen to 67 tracks, 42 of which require unlocking before they're available
COLLECTION / View the PLAY INFO to see what needs to be unlocked or customize HAIR STYLE or FASHION STYLE for your onscreen dancer

» The music selections are evocative of K-Pop, Club, Italo music, and something that can only be termed trance-fusion-rap. The artists that make up the bulk of the tracks are Audition, XR, Sweet Box, Wa Wa, and The Gold. Sweet Box was formed over a decade ago and we remember the song "Shakalaka" being played at clubs in NYC.

How to Play Dance Battle Audition
A cue line appears on the bottom of the screen while a blue circle moves across it from left to right. Blue colored arrows appear above the line. Move the d-pad in the directions indicated by the arrows in sequence as they read from left to right. Do it properly and they'll turn green. That's not the end of your work however. Keep an eye on the blue orb that moves from left to right on the cue line. When it reaches the pink indicator, press the R-TRIGGER and your sequence will be scored. So, its a 2-part exercise where the arrows are tugged and then triggered by pressing the R-TRIGGER at the right time. The blue orb makes two passes per arrow-cue round and you hit the trigger on the second pass before the next group of cues appear.

» If you play the STANDARD MODE, the first dancing battle takes place on a subway platform where the two dancers stand atop a rotating circular platform. Trains will rush past on both sides of the platform every so often.

» When performing the arrow cues, if you miss one cue, the entire line is cleared and you'll have to start doing them again in sequence from the beginning.

» To score a perfect, try to hit the R-TRIGGER when the blue orb touches the white portion within the blinking pink indicator.

» Stringing PERFECT cues together will add to your MAX COMBO Meter. When playing the game and you're linking PERFECTs, a number will be appended to the end of the "PERFECT" text. For example, PERFECT2 and PERFECT3 as you start to rack them up.

» After each dance, your results are tallied up with PERFECT, GREAT, COOL, BAD, and MISS cues all counted up. The MAX Combo counter appears on the upper right corner of the screen.

» If you botch the cues, your dancer can be seen kicking the ground and throwing a temper tantrum.

» The 8-key mode adds diagonal d-pad assignments to the normal N, S, E, and W tugging.

» Later levels increase the speed of the blue orb on the cue line so you have less time to complete the d-pad tugging and press the R-trigger in time.

» Locations to play on include Ghost School, Hip Hop Street, Speaker Room, Meka Box, Pirate Ship, Island, Snow Crystal, and more. The Ghost School level gets its namesake from the desks, windows, and doors that move through some invisible force.
