Urban development is hard work. The construction of
an entire city requires forethought, careful
consideration of the layout, and perseverance. Once
a city is humming, it's even harder to keep the
citizenry happy and content with their surroundings
and municipal amenities. To give gamers a taste of
what it takes to build a city, D3 Publisher releases
Matching Maker 2.1 which is nearly identical to the
first game. The action starts in a grassy expanse
where the first task is to lay down the pavement and
watch as street lights are automatically built and
light up by themselves. Once completed, it's time to
to drop buildings which are constructed right before
your eyes by invisible workmen.
The game follows the natural progression of time where day turns
into night and dusk eventually gives way to dawn. As
the town grows up, the population slowly rises and
buildings and businesses such as book stores,
restaurants, fish mongers, vegetable stands, and
other shops may be raised to keep the populace in
good standing. New buildings that may be built in
Matching Maker 2.1 include a multi-story pagoda,
religious shrines, animal stables, an actual castle,
and even old school residences for samurai. Beaches
and special cafes round out the lay of the land.
