Dating sims
are traditionally targeted at the male
population. However, girls need love too and
Konami addresses the shortage of girl dating
games by releasing a second Tokimeki
Memorial Girls Side. The heroine in GS2
attends Habataki High School and is
attracted to the boys at school. In
particular, there are 10 males with chiseled
features, feathery hair, and fit bodies that
have caught her eye. The lead boy is a
white-haired lad named Teru Saeki followed
by a green-haired guy with glasses named
Itaru Hikami. There's red headed rocker
Kounoshin Hariya, a dark Kenshiro look-alike
named Katsumi Shiba, and a girl look-alike
named Christopher Weatherfield who wears his
blonde hair long and braids some of it with
ribbons.

Notes
»
Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 2nd Season is a portable
conversion of a Playstation 2 game known as
Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 2nd Kiss. Once the game
boots up, rotate the Nintendo DS 90°
counterclockwise and hold the unit like a booklet.
» Where male dating
strategies are generally direct and to the
point, girls have more subtle tactical
maneuvers. To attract the boys, one has to
stay physically fit, wear the right clothes,
perform well in athletic mini-games, and
cook up a storm. Once a boy is hooked, keep
his interest with conversation, good taste
in clothing, and the occasional friendly
gesture such as remembering his birthday
with a gift. If successful at getting a guy,
a love confession may be made which
generally leads to happily ever after and
all that jazz.
»
High school is a soupy morass of hormones, cliques,
social circles, and crushes. Konami's latest
Tokimeki Memorial game touches on all of those
aspects of high school but with an emphasis on the
crushes.
»
A large amount voice samples are packed into the
game card which measures a hefty 2GB in size.
»
Two new characters join the original cast of
Tokimeki Memorial 2nd Kiss from the Playstation 2 -
one of which is Taro Mashima who is voiced by Akira
Osamu.
»
A touch function is introduced in the game where the
stylus is used to tap on hearts that appear on a boy
as he walks and converses with your heroine.
»
When shopping for clothing, a Shopping Card may be
used to store up points. Gather 10 points and
discounts of 10%, 30%, and 50% may be awarded on
purchases. More discounts mean more clothes which
means more ways to attract the guys.
» All of the character
dialogue in the game is accompanied by
speech from voice actors. Each character
also speaks with realistic lip movement as
they intonate the words that they're
bellowing out.
» Once inside her room,
the protagonist may select actions from a
16-icon "keypad." While in her room,
protagonist may also log onto Habataki Net
and check out the latest news around town as
well as her upcoming schedule.
» Traveling is performed
by selecting destinations on a map of the
coast of Japan. Locations of interest are
outlined in rectangular boxes that dot the
map. Choose one to visit by moving the blue
and white periwinkle-shaped cursor over it.
» When shopping, an image
of a store with customers is shown in the
background while clothing articles are show
on on the window on the right. Move the
cursor over a dress or skirt for a closer
look and it'll appear automatically in the
Preview window on the left side of the
screen. Your available funds are shown on
the upper left corner of the screen while
the cost of an item is shown in the Preview
pane below the article of clothing.
» When a boy expresses
surprise or shock, the screen shakes like
Phoenix Wright.
» Data cards may be kept
on the boys which include their birthdays,
horoscope, blood type, height, weight, and
likes.
